We’re in Mountain Home in Baxter county and Praise God nothing more than damaged roofs, downed power lines and trees. Still waiting for power to come back on. I’m so grateful a neighbor who has power now has lent us his generator which we are sharing with our neighbors across the street. That’s what living in a small town is like. Will never go back to a city!

Of course, underground is best in these tornado-prone areas. It will all be rebuilt very soon, I am thinking. God be merciful to these survivors!!

Yes, losing $2M to a storm is hard, but they had insurance, too. What about those whose losses were small in dollars? If you're poor it's all you have. When its gone, its gone, and its not coming back in any form. It takes a lot of resources to rejuvinate. So many, especially the elderly, will be wiped out by this. Try renting on SS, or rebuilding. And many of the seniors are too infirm to even "pick up the pieces" that are scattered to Hell and back. Too tired to resume their burdens, and too poor to start over. America, where we'll spend $$$$ billions on "foreign aid" to buy friends, yet leave whole segments of our own society, to suffer along as best they can. America, where we teach our children to die for ideals we don't follow, where we push our elderly into early graves because they can't pay enough to be be worthwhile. Where our veterans live on the streets till their homeless camps are burned and they're sent away for some other town to do the same thing. But the stories of the great storm of '24 will be about those who come back from it bigger and better than ever, because it reinforces the idea that 'Muricans always come out on top. It sells because it feels good, even if we all know it's a lie. It won't be about the fella who lived in a garden shed with his dog, and drove twice a month to the grocery store 5 miles away. No, when his home leaves for the next town, and his 20 year old car is crushed by a tree, he'll disappear like mist in sunshine. Just another old man and his dog, limping down a short road to a dark ending. So no 👍from me on this story. Y'all did the best you could without thinking. But my pity and prayers are for the overlooked, the I'll treated, those unable to get their pain to ever ease. Maybe next time you'll remember that pretty boy here isn't suffering, really, he was just inconvenienced. Maybe you'll figure out an EF scale for proportional losses, and not what is just another mundane story of the semi-welthy having a bad day.
