If you listen to the finished version, he switched around the high synth and the low synth. The low synth is slow, and the high synth is a little different sounding and faster as opposed to this version.

and don't ruin the whole process by putting a brickwall limiter on the end. (:

There's nothing wrong with using a limiter as long as it's barely doing anything. otherwise it will be squashing things hard and causing distortion.

I've been playing drums for 4 years and making electronic music for 2 years and I can tell you from experience that it doesn't just take pointing and clicking to produce great music like deadmau5 does it takes a more in depth understanding of the music and it also takes a different skill set entirely.

Well, it's not like I actually needed to see the screen, but you know, I thought this was going to be like a livestream or something, so... yeah. Either way, producing dance music is mainly synthesis experimentation, transient shaping, and drum sequencing. If you can do that, you're well on your way.

I've been using DAW's for many years and from everything I used, Ableton beats them all for composing needs, try ableton. I say that because it's like from the brain to the screen, now it isn't for everyone but it is amazing. Has all the power of VST effects and built in effects, awesome MIDI composition and arrangement, that will get you into stellar controlled music.
