***** I'm pretty sure you are mixing bitrate (kbps) and sampling frequency (44,1 kHz or 48 kHz). As far as I know, 360p comes with 96 kbps audio, 720p comes with 192 kbps audio stream (stereo, AAC). Other quality settings are actually displayed by streaming separate video and audio files. Best audio-only bitrate available on many videos is 256 kbps; that's 2 MB / minute. - *This* *video* can be downloaded as *audio* *only* at *256* *kbps* AAC format named .M4A. These streams you can download with help of some KZbin downloaders. _More technical details_: Raw audio is in, so called, DASH audio container (extension .m4a), so format converting might be in order for usual AAC container. Try to do this using "direct stream copy" again to .m4a, not re-encoding (from AAC) to AAC format. *See also*: MPEG-Dash on Wikipedia, web search for "ffmpeg direct stream copy"

I looked at the internal youtube API, and yeah, you're right. 44.1 kHz is the sampling rate. Bandwith is either 128257 bps or 256080 bps (for this particular video) Audio is actually streamed independently from video. Although the played probably chooses an audio stream based on what video quality is playing. Still the 320 kbps claim makes no sense hehe. The codec is marked as mp4a.40.2 internally. So you're also quite right with the m4a claim.

Yeah. Agree on 320 kbps. Most you can get (in most cases) with some tinkering is 256 kbps. Still very good!! But false advertising. :-) Nothing but KZbin help article "Advanced encoding settings" suggests that there is greater than 256kbps audio for streaming. Some users aren't aware of that. BTW Using MediaInfo software on my file, I read audio stream format "AAC", ID=40. That ".2" probably means 2 channels.
