Man its been yeeeaaars since i heard this. Brings me STRAIGHT back to my 20s. Cheap car wired with an amazing stereo with 13 speakers and double subs, after 16 to 20 hours shifts i didnt have parents or anything to go back home to I'd hit the road in the middle of the night like a zombie up to the hills and just have this playing in the pitch black of the night with blue neons in my car. The feeling was so ethereal. Words dont do justice to it. Man time flies.

This song got me through the darkest moments of my life. In fact, I may not be here without it. The way it starts out slow and melancholy, falling slowly into loss and despair, then, a slight glimmer in the dark: hope. The hope builds, eventually bringing about reminiscence and joy before slowly fading into distant memory. No matter how many times I hear it, this song still brings me to tears. It's the most beautiful and emotional song I've ever heard, and it doesn't have a single word. Thank you, Joel, for such an incredible work of art.

If you're asking me, a few years ago. I listened to more up-to-date songs that came out recently by Deadmau5, and loved them and then I started checking out other songs by this guy, and then happen upon this epic masterpiece STROBE. I've listened to dance before or trance or house, but this was something a bit more special. Also, if you start to listen to the actual song in depth and how he separates the levels and samples and beats, you'll hear many different tones and instruments in each stanza. I believe he's well versed in piano, in that he took lessons or something. Just from the piano he places in his music.

“Strobe was actually produced in a whole bunch of different parts. The intro wasn’t originally called strobe, it was called ‘then we stood still’, and if you look it up on KZbin you’ll find that. The second part of it was done months later in a hotel room in England where I thought I should expand on it. It was really done in a lot of segments, and I wasn’t thinking about anything in particular at any given time. People ask me that a lot, and I never really think about anything, I just kind of think about how things sound and if something’s working or not.” -Joel Zimmerman

This song carried me to my best friend, who was dying. I get the dreaded call that he may not see it through the night. Kiss my wife and kids and grab my car keys. I’m gone. This song on like 44 or 46( cuz nobody puts it on a odd number) it’s loud it rumbles and shakes the car, I’m doing maybe 100 on a 60, but the raw emotion of this song and the state that my mind is in just makes everything super adrenalised. I see my friend. He is literally knocking on deaths door. I hold his hand, tell him I love him and say “just give up”. He passed away about 10 minutes after I spoke to him. His parents and I spoke for about 2 hours just re-telling funny stories and cracking jokes at his expense. I leave and get back in my car, and it’s strobe again. Just that first maybe 2-3 minutes of nothing but pure chords, you can feel it. The song lives in you, with you for a few precious moments and then boom, the drop hits you and you’re high and remembering the good times. This song is timeless, and will always manages to give me the feels every time I hear it. Timeless classic.
