This is also an example of a molestation/rape-related joke that's actually funny due to the context behind it. They could've very well just called that option "The Woods Themselves" or something similar and it would've made just as much sense as an Evil Dead reference, but they instead singled out that one tree as if the rest of the woods wanted nothing to do with it. I love it.

The thing that disturbs me the most about this movie is the fact that Ash lost his sister, GF, and best friend during the same night; he watched them getting possessed and horribly disfigured, and then he had to battle/kill 'em in the most gruesome way imaginable. He didn't face/kill strangers that night. That "small" detail makes The Evil Dead an incredibly emotional and tragic horror film, despite all the gore. The "ending" is almost a relief considering that Ash basically had no life left after that night, and the cops wouldn't have believed him.

@@DeadMeat Deadite Cheryl when I was a kid gave me nightmares for years when I went to bed. She in her final messed up form is the scariest looking monster in movie history for me...especially her demon voice and violent nature..and puss-filled white eyes. TERRIFYING!!! That is why The Evil Dead (1981) in my opinion is my favorite horror movie ...AND ALSO the scariest horror movie of ALL TIME to date! Watch it alone in a dark room...with the volume pumped up after midnight...and you will understand why. Joseph Loduca has composed the most claustrophobic and terrifying soundtrack especially with those violin strings plucking sounds. This is a lightning in a bottle movie....genius movie...that happens once in a lifetime! Yeah. I feel a little bad about damning this movie, since they had to be so dedicated and inventive to get it made with what they had. However, I have to be honest: this is a pretty terrible movie. I don't care about the characters (or the actors), there's no shortage of jump-scare cliches, and I'm not even very disgusted by the gore because the special effects are so unconvincing. Instead of spending whatever they had to spend on the gore, they should have gone the Jaws route and suggested violence rather than being as gratuitous as possible with it.

The whole white liberal group who feel they know whats best for everything an feel they need to fight for some cause they see even when there isnt one there. I enjoy his videos but its clear hes right on the line of being part of the liberal far left sjw gang. Its like people who see racism in literally everything or want to see a problem in literally everything an feel they must fight for the cause by posting videos on youtube instead of actually going out an doing something. Hes not terrible an most of his stuff is fine but its clear hes also blinded by his self need to see a cause in everything an feels he must speak up. Kinda like the people who get offended by everything these days which is weird since he watches horror movies an the whole point of most horro movies is to be shocking an offensive.

Just jarring and creepy as hell. Sidenote: before I knew who Bruce Campbell was, I remember initially thinking Scott and Shelley were gonna be the main characters, and even as a terrified kid I thought it was kinda cool Ash ended up being the "Final Guy" cuz it was unexpected.

We were gonna do it ourselves, but hey, if you wanna spend your money to do it for us, go right on ahead you young little whipper-snapper!” Jokes aside it is cool they let them do it because well, hey, we got a bomb ass franchise out of it, so it ended up being a win-win in hindsight, especially us faithful fans 😊 To think if the OG Evil Dead never got as successful as it has, we may have never gotten another masterpiece with Cabin in the Woods, or the OG Spider-Man Sam Raimi series. Big agree, I think the constraints of budget can be a benefit with some films, especially horror genre. With too much capital, filmmakers can be tempted to show too much, if that makes sense. And that's one of several problems with most horror films these days, to me anyway. And the grittiness of the first Evil Dead, including the actual lower budget film used, just adds to the atmosphere.

I absolutely love the Evil Dead franchise from the films to the series. I think my fave part of Evil Dead 1 is how much of a struggle it feels. Ash and Scotty fight for their survival with a fun power dynamic. Scotty is the macho and “hero” like figure for the first half, he is the one you expect to survive till morning only for him to turn tail and end up dead. Leaving the much more timid and inexperienced incarnation of Ash to struggle through the final hours alone. If you were unaware of the sequels you would never know whether or not he is going to make it.

I like how you can clearly point out which scenes were filmed later on in production because Scott's actor's hair changes in certain parts.

A.T Lesbian loli if it’s a movie I haven’t seen I watch the movie first then I watch his Kill Count. Also I knew about The Evil Dead Franchise since I was a little kid. I was so baffled that a lot of people have never heard of The Evil Dead.
