Based on the flashback when Cassandra prodded in Wade's mind, Wade and Vanessa aren't together because Wade's obsession with needing to matter caused a strain in their relationship. She tried to talk to him about how he doesn't need to be a world saving hero to matter, but he remained unconvinced, so we can assume she broke up with him at some point after that when it was clear he wasn't going to let his obsession go.

My best advice is, I suggest the two of you should start watching some of the previous X-Men movies, starting with the first film back in 2000. Then after that, the first Deadpool movies 1 and 2

Here's some corrected trivia for you: Chris Evans was Human Torch in the 2005 Fantastic Four and its sequel. This version of Sabertooth is from the XMen (2000 film) Jennifer Garner is Elektra from Daredevil (2003 film) and Elektra (2005 film) Wesley Snipes is Blade in all 3 Blade movies (and he's actually NOT the only Blade. There was a tv series in 2006 with a younger actor as Blade. Channing Tatum is Gambit - he was supposed to play Gambit in a Gambit movie that the studio had been promising for many years but it never happened... hence Gambit saying he may have been born there. Juggernaut, Toad, Azazel, and several of the other mutants in this movie have roles throughout the XMen movies Fantastic Four, XMen, Blade, Daredevil, and Elektra were all FOX made movies that now belong to Disney. Lady Deadpool is played by Blake Lively (RR's wife) hence the lines "But 2008 if you're watching Gossip Girl" (Blake was a star of Gossip Girl) "I'm telling Blake" and "You should see Lady Deadpool. She just had a baby..." (Blake recently had a baby) You guys should def watch the Fox movies and then rewatch this! There is a lot more payoff if you've seen the others.

Excellent comment! Just 1 correction. Justin Timberlake was NOT in Deadpool and Wolverine. Excerpt: Professional dancer Nick Pauley, also known as Dancepool, performed the opening dance sequence in Deadpool & Wolverine. --------- Also I would note that Mathew Mcconaughey voices Cowpool (the cowboy), Nathan Fillion voices Headpool (the floating head), Inez Reynolds plays Kidpool (Ryan Reynolds daughter), Olin Reynolds plays babypool (Ryans other child).

It's crazy how many easter eggs Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds pack into this movie. I think Elektra would make more sense and funnier had Ben Affleck agreed to reprise his role as Daredevil. Both actors started their relationship on that movie. Wesley Snipes is a great get considering Ryan Reynolds did not have a positive working experience with him on Blade 3 and how Marvel Studios is fumbling on the remake of the Blade movie. Too bad Nicholas Cage said no to reprising his Ghost Rider's role. I'm not sure which is more brutal the one Reynolds dig at Hugh Jackman recent divorce or Dwyane Johnson thinking he is DCU/Warner Bros Jesus for launching Black Adams. I cannot imagine those easter eggs that were left on the editing floor and the ones Kevin Feige said no to.

Contrary to a lot of assertions here, you can make it through this movie fine without having seen Loki. They drop a ton of exposition in this to get you through. I only saw the first couple episodes of Loki and was fine. With that being said, you definitely can’t fully appreciate this movie without having seen a single one of the old fox movies, which it appears that you haven’t. Not recognizing Blade, Elektra, Sabertooth, Pyro, Azazel, etc is just insane
@dartigens102 күн бұрын
To be fair about Sabertooth, as far as I recall Tyler Mane only portrayed him in the very first film, and he didn't get a ton of screen time (hell, I think he had like... two speaking lines). The character doesn't show up again until X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and in that he was portrayed by Liev Schreiber. (Who had a completely different look and portrayal, to where you could understand someone less familiar with the original films thinking that Tyler Mane was portraying a completely different character.)

I like how almost everyone saw Chris Evans and automatically said, “Captain America.” Then he goes on to say, “Flame on!”

Most of the characters were from the old FOX movies. The video tribute at the end were all scenes from the FOX films. Essentially this film is saying goodbye to FOX and ushering in these characters into the MCU/Disney world. "Suck it FOX! I'm going to Disneyland!"
@dartigens102 күн бұрын
My understanding is also that this was partly because Fox hasn't produced another X-Men film in long enough that the rights have now reverted to Marvel - but, there was a lot of questions about how Marvel was going to handle bringing those films into the MCU. If this film is any indication, Marvel is going to use the multiverse (which, to be fair, was already part of the comics) to work around the canon clashes.

What sense does it make to watch a movie, which is mostly an hommage to the Fox-superheroes era, when you haven't watched any of them ?!?! Sabretooth is Wolverine's brother and was in the first "X-Men"-movie and in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine". Elektra is from the "Daredevil-Universe". When they say that "Daredevil is dead" and she answers "It's fine." is because Daredevil was then played by her ex-husband Ben Affleck.

Aside from the cameos, there's also the real-life meta - the backstory of what was going on with the rights to X-Men and the negotiations over the rights reverting is very complicated, but in a way this film is both a love letter to those older Fox films and a send-off for them. (And also pretty poignant, given the story of how the Deadpool movies happened.)

This is a fun movie, and what unique about it is if you grew up with these earlier og movies, it gives you all the nostalgia and the characters that you miss. I wasn't really a fan of Elektra bcs when I watch the movie when I was soo young, but she's the first female hero for me and I remember thinking that she's super cool. Seeing her in this made me squeal even though I wasn't a die hard fan❤ Had no idea about Gambit before my first watch though, I didn't watch all X-men movies, but after learning abiut him and his movie, now I got the joke on the rewatch🤣

@@gryfinryder Wow. Rude much? People don’t need to see every film & or TV show that proceeds this film to still be able to thoroughly enjoy or appreciate it. And people like you that say they must are just trying to rob people of seeing an incredibly entertaining & well made film because “they’re not big enough fans” to “properly” enjoy it. They seem very aware of the fact that they’re probably gonna miss out on or not understand every joke or reference or cameo, & choose to watch this film anyways. Stop being a snob & let them enjoy it anyways. My Moms never seen a single X-men movie, Deadpool movie, Avengers movie, etc. But she watched this, Wicked, & It Ends With Us with me this weekend. & despite the fact that she wasn’t really familiar with a single franchise or character in it, she enjoyed Deadpool & Wolverine the most. She enjoyed the humor, the action, & the music, & was easily able to pick up on the main plot. Great reaction guys! Don’t let others get ya down.

To be honest, a lot of big film franchises could stand to take some notes, because as long as you pay attention you can still follow this film with only cultural osmosis levels of background knowledge. Knowing the background makes a lot of jokes hit that much better (I'd argue that it helps even more to know some of the real-life background to why some of the mentioned film franchises kind of petered out or were never even made, some of the actors, and the overall situation with the X-Men rights reverting to Marvel) but it's possible to find them funny without really knowing the whole of it. Knowing the background enhances the viewing experience, but it's still a comprehensible film without it - and that makes it that much more accessible to people who didn't watch those older films and don't want to have to do homework before watching a movie. (Especially given that as far as I remember, there was *nothing* in the trailers to indicate that anyone else was appearing, and the production managed to keep casting details locked down too.)

I think it’s cool when I find a reaction channel that goes out of their way to watch great films that they haven’t seen or know nothing about (I’m probably reaching a little bit but in my opinion this seems to be kind of the norm for guys and girls their age as they grew up with the internet/computers/phones .. seems like to me that Gen Z and whatever the hell the new one is tends to lean more towards gaming than film overall.. but as I said before .. not like that is a bad thing.. cool to get their reactions to any films that they might consider old but turn out to be must watch classics (super hero or otherwise)) I’m not much of a marvel fan myself but I’ve still seen like 90% of em (all the older ones and everything up to end game.. got stale for me after that) but this one was gold.. all the Deadpool films are .. (holy paragraph 😆 .. sorry this is just how I type as it lets me free flow my thoughts out onto the internet without me having to focus too much on the screen as I have an intracranial pressure issue that makes it hard to stare at the screen’s small text for too long)
