I think the motivation of Deadpool would make a lot more sense if Vanessa had stayed dead after DP2, and in order to see Vanessa again he felt he had to "matter" or maybe he just had to go through the TVA to keep her alive because she kept dying whenever Wade saved her, something more along those lines.... I didn't really buy the whole "I support you, and love you, but not really until youre more important" after how into each other they had the characters written in the first two. And then I think Cassandra Nova needed an introduction on her own in an individual scene setting up her reasoning for wanting to rule the void, etc. etc. And then like one or two lines explaining why she let DP and Logan go back and then immediately said nah frick all the timelines (like I get why, she realized Paradox was gonna take her out, but still... It felt super fast) and then a scene of her rallying the Deadpool multiverse corps. Just to give the movie proper flow. The viewer shouldn't be filling in as many blanks as this movie asks of the audience. All that being said the action and comedy still hit, this movie doesn't really need too much... It's just a few CRUCIAL pieces missing. I think this movie's plot is definitely more than salvageable with a directors cut. Hopefully they can do that (highly doubt it)

@@ninjanibba4259 haven't liked a single Snyder's DC movie and I watched almost all of the directors cuts. So I don't know who 'you people' are, but as a concept directors cuts are literally just a good thing. Studios mess with director's visions and ideas all the time. The bigger the blockbuster, the more likely it was chopped up by a studio committee. There's like 15 shots from the trailers that weren't in this movie, it was definitely chopped up and moved around a bunch. Also... Its just more content? If you didn't like this movie, then don't watch a cut of it... I was just thinking about it and I realised having him and Vanessa not be together more or less tracks with the first two movies because seemingly everything he does is for her in some way. In the first movie he tries to get rid of his cancer so he can be with her. In the second movie her death eventually leads to him saving Russell because he thinks he'll be with her if he sacrifices himself. Then he just goes back through time and stops her from dying which you'd think would completely alter the events of the movie but...whatever. In 'Deadpool and Wolverine' he tries to join the Avengers so Vanessa will think he's done something with his abilities and at the end he saves the timeline then goes and tells her it was all for her and they get back together maybe kind of. Screw the guy she was with I guess.

The metaphor is fine, its just that the explanation 'in story' doesn't make any sense, to have an entire universe dependent on one mortal person for its continued existence is silly, but then again, almost everything multiverse makes no sense, and it also lowers the stakes to 0, since everyone can die and its no biggie.

They could have simplified things by having the TVA arrest Deadpool for his abuse of time travel in DP2, send him to The Void, he meets this other Wolverine there... And the film is them fighting to get back, while foiling the evil hench woman's plan. But then you'd lose the desecration of Logan's grave and the montage of the different Wolverines. You need the messy explanation to justify the two funniest scenes, so.... Hmmm. I can remember during the bus fight thinking I'd rather see more of Wolverine with X23, or just more of Logan riffing with Wade. The cameos don't get enough time individually, and the Deadpool cast don't really get anything. So yeah, I'd agree it's a fun hot mess. Which is a shame, when you go back to old commentaries etc for DP1 & 2 (which i have, on the run up to this), as they talk about the merits of keeping things tight and simple, and the benefit of a limited budget.

A few answers: Logan’s universe isn’t post apocalyptic. Its post mutant. In the beginning of Logan, he is driving a limo full of bridal party girls. Logan lives off grid, so it looks post apocalyptic but when he was in the hotel in vegas, it was very clearly an active and thriving environment. Logan’s universe is the Fox movie universe. When Logan died, the movies after could not sustain the universe. There were a few more movies, but the universe was steadily dying until it got bought by Disney. Not ALL universes have anchor beings… the sacred (Disney Marvel) timeline (hypothetically) doesn’t have one. It will continue perpetually no matter which characters they lose. Time for the TVA isn’t meaningless. Its endless. Yes, they can travel to any point in time outside of the TVA environment but, at the TVA, time passes “normally” for them. they can travel to a point outside of the TVA when Deadpool’s universe is already dead but, IN the TVA, they would still have to wait for it to play out in a linear fashion unless he wanted to travel to the future in the TVA in which case he will have, effectively, gone missing from his own TVA universe for a few thousand years, so no promotion for him. The TVA didn’t send Deadpool to a point after Logan was dead. Deadpool sent himself there bc he thought that Logan wasn’t really dead… he thought he was buried but could be resurrected. He was wrong. The people in limbo are all from the fox universe. The fox universe is essentially dead. That’s why Paradox wants to save Deadpool because (assumably), he is important to the sacred (disney) timeline. With Nova, she was going to destroy all timelines and leave only the void. Deadpool saved his universe by bringing it into the Disney-verse (effectively)

There is a time skip between 2018 when Deadpool is rejected from the Avengers and the time the movie takes place. During this time Deadpool gave up on using his powers to do something meaningful and that's why Vanessa dumped him. And Logan in not that far in the future and it is not Post-Apocalyptic. And there is no more mutants being born because Essex manipulated the food to inhibit mutations so they could be the only ones with access to mutants. And the anchor point stuff is, like most of Deadpool movies, a meta plot point. Wolverine is, indeed, the most important character in the Fox X-Men Universe and without him that would certainly die. And now the Universe might continue entirely due to Deadpool and Wolverine. All the other Deadpool movies also don't make sense without regarding the forth-wall breaks as part of the plot. On the second movie he went back in time and killed Ryan Reynolds before he made Green Lantern, killed the version of Deadpool that was in X-Men origins, that was all cannon (it was mentioned to Paradox in this movie). On the first movie he acknowledged to Colossus that there was two Charles Xavier. There was also 2 Juggernaut and 2 Sabertooth (the one in this movie is from the first X-Men movie, different from the one in Origins, but Deadpool called this one also Logan's brother, which was not a thing in the first X-Men movie. Etc, etc, etc... this is the only way to ever make sense of the Fox X-Men movies, to embrace the meta mess it is inside the movies themselves, that's why it worked so much for me, better than all the other X-Men movies, since the first one. Update: Regarding Paradox's motivation, I think Deadpool was also an anchor for the Fox Universe (his movies are succesfull), so if he sends Deadpool to the MCU there would be no anchor left and he could destroy it. He is pissed that the TVA doens't prune timelines any more and is longing to go back in doing it. And I think he pruned Laura (X-23) too offscreen so they wouldn't make a movie with her, thus continuing the Universe with her as a new Anchor, like the movie Logan set up.

@TwilightLimits-sk7kn5 ай бұрын
Deadpool made a joke about the budget and not being able to afford Magneto which means they weren't able to afford the other main characters from the X Men movies either. I didn't know Wesley Snipes doesn't like Ryan Reynolds. I missed the joke in the movie
@RehmatDeen5 ай бұрын
hmmm, i think if they wanted it they could have made it work, but you have a point, sabertooth lasts for 1 minute, toad has no speaking lines, pyro was probably cheap because that actor isn't big at all these days, they recasted juggernaught, azazel, psylocke. it seemed like a pretty cast-heavy movie already
@zayanything31245 ай бұрын
I didn’t hate it, but I was probably a bit harder on it than some. But then I reflected on every single movie that’s come out in Phase 4 & 5 and realized this movie is top tier (outside of No Way Home) compared to any of those films.

The Vanessa break up is elementary, dear Watson. Deadpool is, and has been, conceptually gravitating away from “bugs bunny kissing Elmer Fudd” “trolling” to being a certified bi/pansexual character. We need to walk a thin line between him making thee jokes and him having a genuine thing for Wolverine. It would come off a bit less acceptable if he were tied down.

I heard that James Mangold himself was very very very mad that they brought Logan back after he sent him off in the most perfect way. But I hate to say I’m sorry, James, with loopholes in stories like Multiverse equations, I’m sorry, but he’s gonna be brought back lol I know he’s not the wolverine that we all wanted, but to see wolverine and Deadpool playoff of each other in a movie is way more rewarding than a Deadpool and wolverine with a solid story and it etc. I don’t care about the story. I just wanna see Deadpool and Wolverine cause the fucking ruckus in the MCU and apparently that’s what I got lol.

What the hell does time travel even have to do with the Multiverse to begin with; and how the hell did Loki time travel with the Space Gem? None of this makes sense, this movie just added more nonsense to an already stupidly convoluted concept they change every project that makes no sense all of Phase 4 and 5 is a plothole. Matter of fact this is just the bad timeline when Tony died I'm sure there's an actual timeline where Tony didn't stupidly die when he literally had the Time and Reality Gem and the MCU continued to be great with Tony retiring and not dying like an idiot.

I thought the story was the weakest aspect but I think you are thinking about too literally when I'm betting that it's supposed to be a reference. The TVA is basically the MCU and they want Deadpool because he's the only successful IP out of Fox. Paradox says he is deemed for greater purpose and to be with the Avengers. Aka the MCU wanting the rights to Deadpool. The anchor to the Fox Universe was Logan because Wolverine was the most popular and well known character - The X Man. When he died in Logan, there was nothing else in the Fox Universe that was a success or worth saving other than Deadpool. But Marvel only wants the Deadpool character and don't care about any of his side characters because they want to do something else and their own thing with him. Paradox says he can end the universe whenever he wants and to just get it over with. Aka put the bad Fox X Men movies out of their misery and all the others so the MCU can reboot them. Logan being in the future you just kind of have to overlook but it's almost them saying that, that was the last good Fox superhero movie besides Deadpool and since Logan is gone, Deadpool is the only one left. But he's not great enough to be an anchor like Wolverine was. Wolverine being an anchor to the Fox Universe. That's also why they were all sent to the void because the MCU saw all those characters as expendable and garbage since they were going to do reboots. That's why Tobey wasn't there. It's also why they say they don't get many Logan's because most Fox films that feature Wolverine were a success. That's what I think they were going for. I think it was another in joke from Ryan Reynolds about how he knew how badly Disney wanted the rights to Deadpool because of the characters popularity. That all sounds like something Ryan Reynolds would come up.

I could overlook all the crap like them split up. One thing I could also overlook but in the back of my mind does annoy me is how, yes both can heal/ regenerate, but why and how does their clothing never have 1 hole in them?? 20-minute van fight scene of just pure evisceration. Next scene perfect clothing. This is my "hey that gun only holds six, but they shot 12 times" thing. I dont fully care but wth.

OMG! Had to pause again at 8:29. No, the audience does not need to assume Deadpool is using Cables time travel device...you can literally see it on his wrist. Also, not it is not confusing if you actually watch and pay attention to the movie that these scenes are flashbacks...similar in style to the first 2 deadpool movies. So no, it is not confusing...it is exactly how all deadpool movies are structured. Maybe rewatch them first before watching and reviewing this movie?

i am going to go on a long rant about this movie and a few other comic book movies. first i do agree with you and a lot of other people this does have a very messy plot and first movie has the best plot. second. every comic book movie i adore such as the dark knight, the batman, avengers endgame, avengers infinity war, spider-man no way home and this movie all have their flaws. examples- the dark knight- christen bale's voice and the batman not being a dective. the batman- it being slowed paced. avengers endgame and infinity war- the way mark ruffalo's hulk was written, spider-man no way home- even though its 2 hours and 30 mins long the plot doesn't get going till the first 30 mins. this movie- messy plot but very entertaining. while do think every one of these movies are awesome. they are in no means perfect superhero movies at all and i just pointed out every flaw with every one of these movies.
