I hope they demonstrate how the multiversal forest works in an easily digestible way in Deadpool. Almost every popular KZbinr I watch has it all wrong despite the creators explaining it years ago and both HWR and Kang showing us and telling us how it works. It’s really quite sad. You guys keep talking about Loki’s tree despite the fact we see a whole other tree in Across the Spiderverse . Despite the fact it’s been established by the creators and many characters ONLY AMERICA CHAVEZ CAN HOP STACKED UNIVERSES WITHOUT CREATING AN INCURSION. I think shows like What If confuse you when they are designed to further elaborate on how this stuff works. In What If we clearly see Wanda and Dr Strange crossing timelines of the 616 tree . This is intentional to show us the difference between two concepts . They can hop timelines without issue. They just can’t cross into stacked universes so easily without getting spaghettified by the black holes between them.

No. Mike . The rules are established . There are stacked universes only America Chavez can traverse . Then there are time lines. Stacked universes are Trees representing Fox, Sony , the 616, 838, etc. Timelines are the branches growing outward from the specific tree . You are getting close but you still can’t discern between a Tree and its Branches . You can’t see the forest for the trees as they say.

That said, the purpose of said portal will be the deciding factor with who opens it. If across the multiverse, America is my choice... Really the only choice.

Sling ring travel is sort of an earth/MCU earth specific vehicle. Die a uses a dagger to slice a hole in reality as her "gateway". And America Chavez travels interdimentionally through a star shaped portal. So, whoever it is must be from MCU earth.

I am not so sure the R rated films will push the overarching narrative a great deal. I think it will possibly introduce a post credit scene cameo that teases a return but they won’t want to leave a hole for a large part of their audience. Otherwise they are essentially encouraging underage viewing for younger Marvel fans, not a good look for Disney.

Maybe the portal is coming from a variant of someone like Doctor Strange or Wong or someone else with a sling ring who was also stuck in the void and was using the portal to get Deadpool and Wolverine out of the bad situation they were in but it’s not taking them out of the void into another universe but instead to just another area in the void, but that’s just a theory, we’ll see what happens when the movie comes out
