Tedx Talks please do not move the camera around when someone is signing or keep zoomed out where it is hard to see. It is like asking a hearing person to comprehend something where the volume is bouncing back and forth between to loud and to quiet.

Honestly, if we could just see the signer the whole time instead of it flying us around the stage every which way, I wouldn't have needed the interpreter. This is kind of ridiculous, right? I just want to watch her sign!

It's very annoying not being able to see the DEAF person who is SIGNING. It is like this in every Ted Talk. Please do better. Just keep the camera faced on the person who is on stage, especially when using ASL, there is no need for it to constantly be moved around.

yeah it is like if a hearing person was trying listen to something with the volume going in and out quiet and loud. They wouldn't be able to follow. yeah I have seen comments like this all over ted ed but no one is doing anything

I don't think the TedTalk people are reading these comments because things aren't changing. It's the same issue with each Deaf presenter

Sorry if this is bad but I'm HoH since Birth. But always wished I was completely deaf. I always felt denied especially because I took years of speech therapy. My classmates made fun of my deaf voice & wondered why my foster parents wouldn't let me learn ASL. I started learning ASL by myself in 8th grade. I was sad nobody wanted to learn for my sake. I'm 22yo & nobody still wants to learn. They claim they have no time. Or it's hard. I've basically given up on becoming fluent. But there's a small flame inside me that refuses to be extinguished.

This is so sad, I can’t believe your parents abused you like that. Sending you good vibes and I hope one day you can find your people, even if it is just through social media or something

Aww, girl that is so sad!! You can learn, I promise! Try a community college, they often have much cheaper options for learning, and you will be able to get much more immersion that you might on your own online. Esp. since places like Texas, Cali & New York are the hot spots for learning ASL, it might not be readily available for use in your area. There's a university in Oklahoma that has been offering ASL classes for free online too! IDR the name, but if you just type oklahoma free sign language, I am sure you'll find them. Also, there are tons of online tutoring services!! I hate hearing this for you, it is especially sad when family members are neglectful, but so many fully deaf people have the same experience as you have had. Do not give up on being fluent!! You can do it. So many hearing people study and become fluent in short amounts of time. The Deaf community will be happy to receive you as you learn ASL. Please do not give up and be encouraged! Language-learning is difficult. But you will be so glad to find that community once you do!

Please TED I am begging you!!! This is a language it is very hard to see/ practice interpreting what she is saying when you keep zooming in and out. There is no need for that the video will still be “artsy” please just leave it on the speaker thanks

I agree her signs are harder to follow. But I think the zooming out isn't to be artsy, but to show the full powerpoint with her in view.
@mariaelizabeth6066
@mariaelizabeth6066 3 жыл бұрын
@@Rachel-xt6xq that makes sense however, it’s hard to understand what she is signing when it keeps zooming in and out. It is a visual language so sometimes it’s more difficult to follow. Also there were only 4 pictures and only really one of them applied to Gallaudet.

(Hearing) I noticed that too while I'm trying to follow along with her signs that they kept moving the camera zooming in and out and when they zoomed in I could only see her face! The voice interpreter is there for the benefit of those who don't know ASL but it's silencing the actual speaker by not keeping her in proper frame and forcing the use of CC :(

Stop zooming in, zooming out, and moving the camera around !! My eyes feels dizzy everytime but still trying to stick around and catch those informations. Plus, all of us agree that we wanna see the person signing, some of us know asl! Some of us this is a chance to them to learn a sign or 2. Thanks!

This is just like that time when a trans woman did a talk about gender dysphoria and then ted misgendered her in the description lol. If they want to show her big screen projections , they should show a closeup of her signing window as-well. If a youtube gamer can show their face AND their screen, why cant ted?

So annoying how much the camera moves around. So hard to follow. This is typical of watching mainstream media when there is an interpreter. The camera is on everyone but them. So disappointing TEDx Talks...You should think about your audience!
