It’s okay to say disabled and recognize that life can be harder for people with disabilities. Just as long as you don’t mistreat people for something they cannot help.
@BlackTigersoul Жыл бұрын
Disabled isnt a dirty word. Saying "different abled" actually invalidates the struggles us disabled folks go through.
@HelixGuile4444 Жыл бұрын
As previously stated, differently abled is BS. Disabled is the correct term, but it does not mean they are lesser as PEOPLE.
@marialindell98747 ай бұрын
This comment is a perfect example of "hidden" ableism. Disability is a legal, medical and correct term. It is not a slur. Stop trying to sugarcoat and fluff our lives. Life isn't all roses and sunshine. Facts don't care about feelings. What benefits do you get if you loose both of your legs? The disability benefits. What benefits do you get if you have if you are blind, deaf, have locked-in-syndrome or EDS? Disability benefits. What taxis do you take if you use a wheelchair? An inva-taxi, built to provide serviced to those with mibility aids like wheelchairs and eletric scooters. What bathroom do you use if you have a guide dog? The disabled bathroom cause it has way more room for a dog so it can do its job. Guide dogs are still working when their handler takes a #1 in a puplic bathroom. Mindsets like yours are doing us as much harm as those who are actively working to lock us up in tiny unrenovated apartments.

I just read that Rene Robert, famous 85 year-old photographer, died from hypothermia after falling and spending nine hours sprawled on a bitterly cold street in central Paris. Passers-by ignored him, until a homeless person called, too late, for help. Here I see ordinary people step up, out of care and decency, to help the helpless supplicant. Suddenly my room changed from freezing to toasty.
