Days fog Can't see past the edge of what's gone but i'm hoping i'll try And the rain shines And the showers and the fawns in the field arrange in my eyes So why fight? With nature's call around You talk about frights In the verse of the every song You tell me what's wrong But what's right? You're seeing creation That crushing never ending change is so full of love And so you're waking to face the change in your role And with each restless shiver you wretch from your soul You're asking Is that something I'm not anymore? A brother to shake these broken chords till they turn gold And I tried To survive without that gold And wondering why Our exchange can never hold Am I what's wrong? Well what's right? Stop trusting in demons You're scattered ever lonely buddy but so full love Please stop repeating your terror you choose what you see It's always "what if?" and "why not?" Man you gotta just be Simplify define your goals and watch them grow Be your own true self the you that I know Days gone As I peer past the edge of what's lost I'm starting to cry But the rain's fine And the tears feel warm and my body is humming alive In time You'll revive what you thought dead You've stopped your own climb On the verge of every end You tell me what's wrong But what's right? Stop believing your being's been shattered and distorted cause brother your so full of love And so you're hoping to make a change in your role Repeating mantras to find some ground for your soul Stop asking Is that something I'm not anymore? A brother to shake these broken chords till they turn gold

I get that exact feeling with some of Brian Eno's early stuff. I don't get it so much from here and I really don't get what it is exactly or why some music does it, but I know exactly what you mean and it's a really cool feel

Just came here to say thanks to Deakin for making this beautiful song and album. One phrase that has really stuck with me ever since I first heard this song is “don’t believe your being’s been shattered and distorted, cause brother you’re so full of love.” I replay this line in my head every time I’m down and need a reminder of this. Thanks again.

I have listened to the entire album, many times. I think it is helping me with a process that I have been repeating over the years. My opinion is that Sleep Cycle is a process of awakening, it is a beautiful metaphor in which we all have to face, confront ... I am in tears writing this, because I identify so much with the emotions and feelings of Deakin, that I realize this infinite cycle ... This is life, this is darkness and light, it is necessary to go through ... Endless thanks to Deakin ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@jovenintensa5 жыл бұрын
Ok but for real: Sleep Cycle is the best AnCo-related album released this decade. The only one I'd be bold enough to call a masterpiece. Thank you so much for it, Josh. It's been a therapeutic album for all of us. I still cry to Good House everytime I hear it when I feel weary and beaten up, it really lifts me up, it gives me hope for the future. I think, at the end of the day, that's the spirit of Animal Collective as a whole. It's a hug, an embrace for the soul.

Don't care what people say, "Centipede Hz" is still a masterpiece, too. I'd tie the two together. After all, "Wide-Eyed" was the very first we ever heard from Deakin in regards to vocals and songwriting, and it arguably gave him the confidence needed to finish and release "Sleep Cycle". The acoustic version that was recorded for a radio show is essentially a precursor for what we got with "Sleep Cycle". Deakin's guitar playing on "Centipede Hz" was incredible, too. The sounds he got out of it are revolutionary. It will take decades for people to truly appreciate the sonic depths of that album. I agree with the rest of your comment, though. "Good House" is such a tear jerker and very spiritual. I could not have worded things better.
