I think she was entitled to feel a little upset, given she had dealt to early and could have had much more. That said, her reaction did seem a bit much to be honest. You do have to factor in that she had suffered depression and had been through a lot because that can wreak havoc on your emotions and cognitive functioning (I know because I've had it and it's bloody awful) so perhaps that's a reasonable explanation for what we see. At the end of the day though, it's gambling so you do have to be prepared for that sort of thing. If I was on the show I'd take calculated risks, I wouldn't be foolish and go all or nothing but I wouldn't be too timid either.

Even compared to Donna this was by far the most extreme reaction to someone dealing too early and missing out on a 6-figure win. I was kind of torn in two minds about this game, because Toni being *that* upset after winning £26,000 was just uncomfortable to watch (and dare I say maybe even a bit embarrassing for Toni to look back on), but I honestly did feel sorry for her given her dire financial circumstances at the time and her problems with depression and what not. The fact that Toni was a home carer, and that she said she was upset because she didn't play on so she could win enough to help other people besides just herself seemed to suggest that Toni was a genuinely lovely person.

Unlike Donna who I think no one felt sorry for in fact some people were laughing the way that game unravelled if ever a game deserved the cheesy nibble Banker laughing his head off treatment that was it but I think Toni was genuinely beating herself up for not going on and I agree she seemed very lovely indeed a shame.

ITV's reboot now employs a Duty Of Care Psychologist. I think the days of seeing someone get that upset on screen are over. It does feel like they should not have kept twisting the knife and looked after her better. There's a point where it stops being entertainment and just becomes cruel.
@femmet10 ай бұрын
£26,000 is pretty good. that shouldn't bring tears. That's just greed. Embarrassing really.
@97channel10 ай бұрын
@@femmet I've argued that point quite a lot, elsewhere. Some guy dealt early at around the same amount, with a strong board. I think he ended up having the £250,000 on the table, but the point is that he won over £25k. Everyone thinks it was a bad deal, but I always think the smart move was to play for somewhere between £10k and £20k and ignore hindsight. It could have gone the other way, nobody knows until they regret turning down good money to chase a statistically very unlikely jackpot. Greed is the trap of this game. Anyone who ever won real big wasn't a good player, they were a bad player who got lucky. The skill was in moderating ambition and ignoring the random outcome after the deal.

I’ll take the 26k if she doesn’t want it

I doubt we'll ever see this kind of emotion on the reboot. ITV have employed a Duty Of Care Psychologist, and it's unlikely that someone would now even qualify to take part if they were not mentally robust enough to cope well with lows of the game. The Jeremy Kyle Show and Love Island have really impacted ITV's approach to public participation. No doubt that better care is a good thing, but we'll see way blander games from now on as a result.

The way they cry and get all distraught 😂If you have ANY big money left on the board and the lowest amount is £500 of more then you are stupid for dealing ANYTHING offered. I'd be happy to win £500 and that's my fall back amount. Fair enough this girl had the 1p in play so I don't blame her for dealing when she did. The thing is, I have seen players that took all the lowest amounts out and have £500 or £750 to fall back on and they STILL deal when there's sums like £20,000 and £75,000 on the board. They sit there saying "I want to take 9 of my relatives on a massive holiday so I'll take that deal at £26,000" but that's totally the wrong way to play this game. Imagine someone just handed you £500 totally free of charge with no catches... that's how I look at it and while any big sum is there, you can be sure I would be no-dealing all offers as long as I have at least £500 to fall back on. I wouldn't even care what the offer was, if £500 was there and a red at £20,000 or more. On the 2023 series on Friday 1st December 2023 that exact thing happened and he had £75,000 in his box. He delt around £24,000 but my point is, he had the £750 as his lowest box at that stage (along with £10,000 and of course the £75,000 that he had in his box).

Sadly as I had the 7 highest amounts still on the board, greed took over and I crashed and burnt. I ended up dealing at £3,000 but could have won £35,000. By the 2010s, DoND was becoming tighter with money following the recession in the late aughts (hence the reason for the shows becoming an hour long, so they could gain extra ad revenue), and by then, they were mostly picking cautious contestants who either *needed* money, or were too emotionally unstable to take risks and could easily be manipulated into dealing early, therefore saving the show money.
