I'm pretty sure they leave the gas door open so they know what vehicles are really low on fuel, so they can add to it so they can be driven through the auction without worry of running out in the middle of the auction

I bought a 2014 Cherokee Trailhawk (factory ordered it in 2013) and still own it and love it as much as the day I got it. It has one of the most comfortable interiors of any car I've owned in the past 40+ years and I will pass it on to my son when I die. And hope he loves it as much as I have!

My favorites in this episode are the red Kia Rio and the Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk. The white Jeep Renegade is a pretty cool piece. The Renegade come in front wheel drive, all wheel drive and 4x4 four wheel drive. The one your looking at is quite a potent little 4x4. It’s a lot more capable than you might think.

I asked Randy to find me a Renegade, and he found one. Yes, it's a base Sport 4X4, with Power & Air Group, but nothing else in terms of options. Some of the Sport models could be ordered with the reversing camera, but most have the little display you see here. I'd drive it, this is what I'd want for me.

My friend almost made it home with his new Rebel before popping the hood and seeing the V6. Drove it right back and got a Big Horn. The Hyundais had an app to control the remote start so those still might have it.

If you go retail, you look for cars to sell to the consumer, not what you like. If you like to sell jeeps, dodges or Rams because you like them, you have to find out how long on average they’re on a dealer lot. I saw a few equinoxes you passed by but said no. For retail they sell fast. Cars like very small sedans like a Kia Rio don’t sell very fast. Midsize crossovers and pickup trucks are currently hot sellers.

Hey Randy! Awesome video!!! So the reason why you see so many gas caps open on so many of the cars that are out of gas, is so our lot truck knows to come around and put gas in them. We drive those cars every Thursday through the bays during the auction, so they have to make sure they have enough gas to do that. As to why so many of them are out of gas… I don’t know. Been asking myself this for 4 years 😅 assuming that people know their car is getting repossessed so they drive every drop out of them but that’s just speculation.

Couple of reasons why they are low on fuel. First is that if they are ropos the dealer has the spare key but the other is still with the client. They are drained in case the client comes back too take the car but they won't get far. Secondly, many dealers do it for fire reasons and only fill the tank once re-sold. They are often stored really close together and not knowing the condition they don't want the whole lot too go up in smoke. Happened a few times in the late 70's early 80's.

2.4l Multi Air warning!!! Randy, check the recalls. There is an oil consumption recall on that motor. It covers the Jeep, Dodge Dart, a Ram Van and the Fiat 500x. My Fiat 500x failed the test and Fiat had to replace the motor after it used 2.5 quarts of oil in 1500 miles. I have a brand new long block now!

Renegade. U can’t get anything that price or size to off road the way it does. You can get a trail hawk version with skid plates , off road suspension and more 4x4 capabilities. They are beast and definitely not just a front wheel drive bs crossover ❤️.

Hey randy the reason they are low on fuel is to prevent vehicle thefts unlike the regular auctions dealer auctions have all running vehicles or vehicles that are great chop shop candidates with highly demand sellable parts

I'd chose the Rio because it's a higher trim level than the Accent, and a better color. However, for flipping it, whichever one is worth more, I'd go for that.

We don't take gas out of franchise dealer trades or used dealer consignment because they know how much gas their vehicles have, we take it out of bank repos and fleet lease return because they aren't physically there to know what gas the vehicles have.

Only thing to be cautious about with late model Hyundai and Kias is with their notoriety for being stolen, you may want to make sure what banks are financing these for as well as whether certain insurance companies will insure them as a result of the above. One of our local police precincts was giving away free clubs to Hyundai and Kia owners recently. The smaller SUVs may be the way to go as everyone seems to want them as long as you can get one for a reasonable price due to their demand.

On the Subie, those two blue things were "nuts" used for hardware. It's a stealth way to do the same thing that people do when they put big plastic bull body parts that have the same name on their cars and trucks.

They did make a V6 Rebel, you could get it in either the 3.6L Pentastar V6 or the 5.7L Hemi and also, the Cherokee has a 3.2L Pentastar V6 which is based on the 3.6L Pentastar V6

With gas prices out there, I’d be lifting fuel too….I’m taking the chance to get shot repoing cars, I’m helping myself to fuel. That little Renegade is beloved by many. The ladies love em….and that 2.4L is a better choice than the 2.0L’s…. The only bad thing about Renegades is the lack of sound proofing. Highway driving can be loud. Ram Rebel’s are V-6’s.

Yeah that Cherokee has the 3.2 Pentastar V6, the Pentastar family are 3.0, 3.2 and 3.6 engines. Unfortunately all of them suffer the same level of failure rates, that oil cooler under the intake tends to warp and or crack causing oil and coolant to pool up in the valley and eventually spill onto the transmission and of course they can develop Pentastar tick even with proper maintenance.

You said the transporter or bank is taking the gas but if that was the case the gas cover doors wouldn't be open in the yard cause the wind from transporting them would've closed the doors. It's either a customer walking around or the sales yard people taking the gas.
