I have recently had opportunity to get an appraisal from Harry and his team for a set of coins I sold to him. He is one of the most professional dealers as I have had the privilege of dealing with in over 40 years of collecting. It is a myth that other countries exploit the US. The opposite is true: By abandoning the gold standard, the United States gained the ability to print its currency without being tied to a fixed value. This has led to a global dependence on the US dollar, as many international transactions are conducted in dollars. Countries holding dollar reserves thus indirectly finance US debt and pay a “tribute” in the form of the devaluation of their own currencies. This system allows the United States to live beyond its means while simultaneously exporting inflation to other countries. Since 1971, this system has cost foreign nations approximately $6.2 trillion and increased the wealth of the US.

Another possibility is that the basic PM spot prices could drop on par with tariff percentages to negate the difference in current non-tariff PM prices as a result of lower demand. I would not be so quick to assume the spot price would just remain static and the tariff percentage simply added without some down side spot price adjustment. Tariffs can impact market price levels in either direction, increasing OR decreasing demand in the process. Market price equalibrium will eventually find their own price levels according to supply and demand. "Premium resistence" could just as easily spill over into "tariff resistence".

Crazy times. But it still should not bother you, I bought 4 last month. if you always looked at the price you would never buy, thinking of the 15 I bought at £50.00 all those years ago. 🙂 its just savings for my kids mainly trying to educate them on the world is hard , they want everything now. 😞 Good luck stacking in the UK

@@jeffshoesmith8047 only from your perspective because you have no leverage. We have all the leverage as we are your biggest consumers. Another thing is that old timers only mined high grade ore for the most part and left the lower grades in the ground or dumped it in the waste rock. I've heard about people making a nice living by just mining the waste rock with modern recovery methods.

Absolutely. Canada sells crude oil to the US at dirt cheap prices, the US then refines it and sells it on the world market for market price, making massive profit off of Canadian Oil. Biden depleted the US oil reserve in 2022, so If Trump enacts Canadian Tariffs, Canada needs to immediately cut off its oil supply to the US and hit them where it hurts. It seems crazy to me to put a 25% tariff on a neighbour and ally but only a 10% tariff on an enemy (China) who is ultimately responsible for the large majority of outsourcing of US jobs.

You wanna bet? There are going to be a lot of dealers who are going to raise their prices immediately on February first ,because of that trade tariff , even before ,even if they haven’t received any material that was even connected to the tariffs. Plus the fact that there will be a lot of cargo that is already in route to their destination that will not have the tariffs on them again because they were already in the US before and were delivered after February and thus escaping the tariffs. But regardless there will still be dealers who will sell their products with the price plus tariffs and pocket the extra money.

You must like paying taxes as well? Tariffs are a different word for taxing a product from another country, however the consumer pays the tax or tariff. Not rocket science. That's why a Chinese EV gets a 100% tax you pay to uncle Sam. What an advantage. Lol

I've been seeing a lot of comments from people saying they don't mind paying more for USA made products and while that's great it's still not a morally or ethically sound excuse to support govt forcing your neighbors to pay more for something. Vote with your own wallet, but don't vote with your neighbor's wallet because that's wrong.
@Dante95240Күн бұрын
Scenario: I have 20 American made chairs in my store. My neighbor has 20 of the same style chair made at his house. He comes to me and asks me to sell his chairs in MY STORE for him, and he wants to chg 25% less than I can sell my chairs for. I tell him I can sell his chairs but access to MY stores market will cost him 25%, which makes both chairs equal. Why would I undercut my sales, and do the work to sell his, and give him my market access, to make 25% less?? That's how I view tarrifs. I don't understand why people can't wrap their heads around this, it's not that difficult. We've been getting ripped off by our neighbors forever, and much of their product IS of lessor quality than our American made product. There must be a "level field for commerce" to be fair. People must put aside their emotional reactions and think. Tariffs may also replace the income tax, which will put more money in your pockets...so big deal the price on foreign goods may be more, you'll have more to spend!! 😁
@Prepare2Survive17 сағат бұрын
@@Dante95240 You didn't describe a "level playing field" because you're charging your neighbor 25% extra to sell his chairs. A level playing field would be charging ALL your suppliers 25% extra for access to your store. Tariffs are just a fancy word for taxes and all production and distribution level taxes are passed on down to the consumer which means the govt isn't getting the extra money from producers. It's getting extra money from consumers and that by definition is a tax. You might think free market competition is ripping people off, but you would be wrong. Just like you're wrong to think tariffs will replace the income tax. Morally and ethically speaking the only justified form of taxation is voluntary where the consumer chooses which service they want to use and which service they don't want to use. In a true free society there would also not be any govt monopolies on any service and the govt would be limited in power to whatever power the average person has. If you don't have an individual right to impose tariffs or taxes on goods coming into your neighborhood that means the govt doesn't have that right either.
