No one will ever convinced me that Gravely mowers are bad mowers. It takes a little bit to get used to driving one after driving a normal tractor style, but once you've got it, you've got it. If you're cutting lines, you have to be careful spinning the mower around or the back tire will dig a bare spot. Just take it nice and slow during the turn and then it's back to full throttle across the yard!

I heard what he said….but was it really, “as a dealer, I wasn’t impressed with my profit margin on Gravely.” There’s no way one could be disappointed with the build quality of Gravely. I shopped around before I bought a mower. Did thorough analysis of decks, spindles, metal thickness, welds, engines, hydros, maintenance ease, availability and price. Ariens (Gravely) was best bang for buck by far. Bought it, saved $2,000.00, and they delivered to my door. He has to have a brand that it not readily available and then build a stable of customers that come to him for service. He does not want Gravely because the average Joe buys it direct and then maintains it himself. i mow a huge and complex 5 acre yard with trees, branches, ditches, etc. The Ariens Gravely is a beast. Look on line right now. Ariens Apex 60 $5,899.00. Ferris 60 $11,000.00. Now you see why he sells Ferris

Gravely makes a damn decent zero turn mower. My childhood mentor has actually owned one that he bought brand new from a local dealer at the time. The dealer has since went out of business and if I remember right it was because one of the brothers that opened it up years prior had passed away due to old age. So I think the remaining brother and sister that still owned it and ran it decided they were ready to retire. The building actually sat vacant for roughly 10 years before somebody else moved in to it. So I'm assuming they owned the building and they just decided to close up shop and retire. They always had people walking in and out of there buying parts and whatever else. Their parts department was second to know body. 99% of the time they had it in stock and didn't have to order it. They pretty much always got you the right parts on the first try pretty much every time. So you didn't waste time running back and forth trying to find the right part. Ole JP Fuller and company. Weren't the cheapest in the area but they usually had it in stock and the guys behind the counter knew what they were doing. But anyway he's still running that Gravely zero turn over 20 years later and he has no intention of buying a new one any time soon. You just need to invest in one of the more commercial grade mowers. But Gravely still makes a solid zero turn mower. Usually with either a Kawasaki or Briggs Vanguard or Kohler Command depending on what you want.

I'll put it to you this way, if you live in the south and you're not running rear tweels and solid fronts and your competition is, you are already one step behind. Tweels will develop flat spots while sitting idle in the severe cold so I understand the risk and the added headache of elevating them off the ground or switching them out with pneumatics for the guys up north, but they are a no brainer if you live in the south.
@bullofthewoods93743 жыл бұрын
@@alienationsec4480 why do you say that? why get a wheel i gotta jack up????? i dont see what advantage you are claiming? do they cut any better? my air rear tires do great. i cant see the twills making any difference at all. please let me know. i dont do mowing for a living but have a bout ten acres to mow and hunting land. my old tor zmaster does great.
@ralfie88013 жыл бұрын
@@bullofthewoods9374 The advantage is better traction from the bigger foot print that they have, they hold hills better than any pneumatic tire will, and they ride a whole lot better without being too soft. Then there’s the no flats ever again part of it.
@bullofthewoods93743 жыл бұрын
@@ralfie8801 ten four. i just dont see that kind of money for that tire. my mower has done fine with the pneumatics. i do see they could do hills better though

Im not sure, here in North Central Florida, 90% of the lawn mower companies are stocked with Gravely's. I have 13 lawn mower dealers in my area. 9 of them have Gravely/Ariens-w/ Snapper, 1 is strictly Deere, 2 Toro, 1 Exmark/Hustler/Spartan..

I recently got a Gravely 260. It is heavy duty. I am in the Midwest (Iowa) I will say I do understand why he doesn't want to get Gravelys. In my town I can choose from Gravely and John Deere and I'm not paying for what Deere offers. Only other option would be Grasshopper that is 20 min away from me same with Kubota. Both of those are high $ I'm new to your channel also. So thats why I'm putting this up so long after the video 😂

im in NY and Gravely is very popular up here. ive been mowing now for 28 years and ran ferris,exmark, and now run Gravely and im very happy with the product. Hes a dealer so im sure he knows more than anyone so I value his opinion.

Your "Click Bait" header makes it sound like Gravely's are junk when in reality you don't have the "Ability" to handle this line of equipment. With your shortcomings, Gravely should be the one who refuses to deal with you.

In Georgia gravely is growing. Mine is a tank and cuts good. Pro Z 52" don't care for scag or ferris. If mine is for home owner ill keep up with any professional mower.

I am looking to upgrade from cub cadet ZT1 (not impressed with the dealer support). Can anyone speak to Toro or Scag ZT mowers? A lot of dealers here carry those two. There is a Wright dealer and an Exmark.

Happy 20+ YO Gravely 260Z owner here. Take care of your Gravely. Regular maintenance, change the fluids... Can't beat my 60" hydraulic deck. If I wanna double cut, I can make my initial cut, then drop the deck maybe 1/16 inch and make a second pass. I also have a swivel front end. Cannot beat it. Makes for a smoother ride.

What has hurt the Pro-Turn sales in recent years is the discharge being too small..It's been the WORST deck on the market as far as discharge and Gravely has drug their feet in redesigning it...JS

$1200 for a set of tires that can develop flat spots if left sitting in one place for extended periods, and which don't really offer better traction seems like a waste of money (and a high profit margin item for the manufacturers). No experience with Gravely mowers. I run Grasshopper mowers with out front decks. Solid machines, but their dealer/distributor network is small so you have to be able to work on them yourself for most of your routine maintenance. Grasshopper offers a few liquid cooled diesel engine options too, but I've never needed the power or been able to justify the added expense.

Ferris is known for electrical problems and Wright’s cut quality is subpar compared to Scag or Ferris. Ferris has more points of failure for their complex suspension setup and Wright dealers are hard to find even when I’m in their business back yard. Wright however is great for lower center of gravity on hills. They all have pros and cons but I’d take a simplistic ultra durable Gravely anyday over a super expensive Scag TT2.
@qualitycutlawncareservices46533 жыл бұрын
So in short you sell what is popular in your market . I mean this is business 101 . Scag is #1 in my area by far ( northeast ) does that make it the best ? No but it is what brand grew popular over the years in this area . All of this should be basic knowledge and not surprising at all . Wrights are few and far between up this way .

Our family business handled Simplicity and he’s so right about the region, we handled all the other brands that were owned by Briggs (Ferris, simplicity, agco, and a bunch of others). But up in our area, it was simplicity heavy.

i worked at a golf course for years, imo toro, scag, hustler, exmark are at the top in commercial mowers..... deer is ok and kabota, but i have to say not any better than the 4 mentioned. these days its all about service and parts availability. toro is on point for both. Most of the mowers are good ones, but when they do need parts , how fast is the key/

Great video boss man he's dead on about equipment shortage i already paid for my 36 inch mower and its not coming in till July I put a deposit down on my 48 inch mower and im not getting it until January of next year from my dealer. There's a waiting list at my dealer for certain pieces of equipment. Man its crazy. And there's a shortage on materials to make the products. My dealer laid this out to me 2 months ago when I purchased the 36. Also a heads up the equipment is going up when things do return to some sort of normal condition thats why I put a deposit on the 48 to lock in the price.
