I do my own winter tire changeovers on my 2024 NX350h in my driveway. I like the convenience of not having to make an appointment at the dealer, and driving there and waiting while they perform the work. Switching the TPMS back and forth is easy to do once you know how. Metal guide pins are very handy otherwise the lug bolts make the switchover harder than it needs to be. I also do my own oil changes - 0w16 oil goes on sale all the time at Canadian Tire, so it easy to get a good deal. I use Toyota oil filters. Doing the work myself gives me comfort the job was done right.

Great that you can do it yourself. I can do it myself, but too lazy to do it myself. I typically get another car while it's in service or get my wife to pick us up and we go somewhere while it gets done. I also time it with service so it gets inspected and understand the other work they offer and opt out on them. Lol

@seanh2390 curious, I am looking to rotate my tires on my NX350H. How do you do it? I have four Jack stands and two hydraulic floor jacks. Just not sure of the best method. Any tips appreciated.
@seanh2390Ай бұрын
@@MrUKokot I just jack up one wheel at a time with a jack, and then put a backup jack stand beside the jack. My second set of tires is marked so I know where they came off the car. Not sure if that helps? If I was rotating one set of tires only (e.g. front tire to back, and rear tire to front, and keeping both on the same side of the car) I think I would just put jackstands on both jacking points, and then rotate the tires. The other side of the car would stay on the ground. My winter tires are unidirectional so they stay on the same side of the car. For simplicity, I also keep my all seasons on the same side of the car when doing the rotation. Everything else being equal, I think the majority of the wear happens on the front tires because of the extra engine weight, but I could be wrong.

Lucky for us here in Australia we never need to change tyres. On a separate wheel comment, I asked the dealer to rotate my wheels, then they called me later to say one of my wheels was buckled! It would be $200 to straighten otherwise they couldn’t rotate it! I left them the way they were and at the time my car wasn’t started or only 6 months old so I was shocked. I also experience no evidence by way of pulling left or right or stuttering?

Thanks for your feedback. You should look at the wear of that tire to see if there are any issues

I do a second set of winters (tires and rims) with TPMS. That way it’s just a straight swap. $50 isn’t a big deal for a swap and if you did it anywhere they would charge you that much for the swap anyways. Unless you do the swap yourself. Now… I have a jack, torque bar etc. so no big deal but I’m self employed so it’s a write off for me so I let them do it. 😎 BTW my dealer actually charges over $100 for the swap unless you do an oil change at the same time then it’s only $50. I always do the oil change at the same time so I’m good for the winter. 🥶
@lsftАй бұрын
The $60 CAD is not for the swap, but for the programming of the tpms. The cost of the swap is additional.
@TechJunky777Ай бұрын
@ Right that is why they only charged me $50. But only if I’m doing the oil change at the same time. Otherwise it’s like $110. So they waive that $60 with the oil change which I would do at that time anyways.
@lsftАй бұрын
@@TechJunky777 when I do service, the tire swap is free.
@TechJunky777Ай бұрын
@ I’ll bring that up next tire swap. Who is your dealer? But why did they charge $50 and not $60? 🤔
@lsftАй бұрын
$60 is just for programming tpms. Tire swapping is $110. Not sure how your dealership does it. The reason why they don't charge is because during the service they have to take off the tires to inspect the brakes and putting on another set costs nothing as it's the same job. I go to Don Valley North Lexus.

Where did u buy TPMS. I just got new winter set from Costco and they told me their TPMS doesn’t work with 2024-25 models.
@lsftАй бұрын
Mine came with a package from the dealership.
@albertn.1742Ай бұрын
If I don’t have the TPMS on my winter wheels, I don’t have to do any programming/calibration and it would just be like a normal tire changeover right? How about when I change from Winter to Summer with TPMS? Will it automatically detect it?
@lsftАй бұрын
That is right. There is nothing you need to do. Once you change the tires back to summer, drive it for about 30 mins above 40km/hr and it should recognize the tpms. You'll get a tire pressure malfunction from time to time with your winters with your winter set.

For interest LSFT, my grandson noted that the interior of my new LBX Sports Luxury 4WD is very nice. Coming from a grandson, that is worth noting. The grey suede looks and feels perfect. The absence of the significant amount of piano black that is on our NX450 H+ fSport is notable. The piano black shows every bit of dust.
@lsftАй бұрын
Yes - I agree. I saw the LBX in person during my visit in HK and it's nice inside, but too small for me.
@SuperStewfart29 күн бұрын
@ most cars carry one person. Having 2 cars provides flexibility. We use the LBX when the NX is charging or we are going somewhere such as our exercise class or supermarket where parking is less than optimal. If we only had one car, it would be the NX for sure. We live on a hill 120 metres from the surrounding coastal suburbs. The hybrid system recovers about 60% of the energy going down the hill compared with coming up the hill. Over nearly 1,000 km we have averaged 4.8 l/100km. I am happy with that. The AWD model is a fraction more thirsty.

I don't know because these are winter tires which are more grippy and it's colder in the winter.
