The best advice I’ve gotten so far for planning our wedding is “remember it’s your wedding day and not a family reunion”. We are not inviting a few aunties and uncles as we haven’t seen them for over a decade and my dad is trying to brace me for the drama 😂

I am very much a people pleaser, and all for etiquette under normal circumstances. However, my wedding is absolutely and most importantly a celebration of my partner and I. So, when the time comes, I will be very forthright about that

I’m very late to your comment lol, but I’m such a people pleaser, and i’m in the midst of planning my 2023 summer wedding with my fiancé. It’s soooo hard not to go with others’ thoughts and opinions to avoid drama!

@@gracerankin17 Heya! No I totally get it, it is really difficult. Especially when it's family. But you have to try and remember, it is YOUR day. And spoiler, they all dealt with the same thing on their respective wedding days. So they will understand

Thank you so much for this! We are only a month in and just picked out the venue and the in-laws are already becoming controlling. (Inviting lots of friends, though we reached our headcount. Taking over the rehearsal dinner even though we already booked a wonderful place by the venue.) We just don’t know what to do.

Great advice Lauren. I hate that strong minded brides who know what they want are branded bridezillas!

what do you do when you don’t have many friends but your partner does. eg. bridesmaids

Hey, can someone explain this wedding joke to me? I saw this happen in the hall near my brother's wedding reception. A female banquet manager was upset with a caterer, who had signed up for a one-person shift. She said she didn't think he could successfully do the service alone. She was sternly all, "I've told you not to sign up for shifts by yourself, I've been very clear about that, I don't know how much clearer I can get for you to listen. You need someone there to give you instructions and guide you." And then the caterer said, "You know, I'm beginning to see why you manage wedding and receptions." What does his comeback mean? Whats the implied reason?

I’m going wedding dress shopping with my mum as she is brutally honest, my sister who knows style and will be honest (bridesmaid). My future mum in law and when she cry’s I know it’s the one. And my future sister in law as she is like another sister (also bridesmaids). Im looking forward to going wedding dress shopping as it’s run by a local hospice where my future husbands grandma was meant to go. It’s a way to bring her into the day even though I never got to meet her.

I love your vibes and content. You’re very easy to listen to, and offer fantastic advice. Just one word of warning if you are in the US, saying “nickers” may not be heard correctly since we don’t use that word. The only word we have that sounds like it is that very nasty word. I know I didn’t hear it right at first… Maybe you already are aware of this, but I just wanted to let you know if not!

My mother told me today, my wedding isn't all about me, its about the hosts and guest and at least trying to accommodate what they like too.

Yikes!! Your wedding is about you & your partner. The only thing you should accommodate is food allergies or dietary restrictions.

Another amazing video. I was talking about my dress and my dream is to have a different colour and a family member said to me why can't I be pretty for once in your life and if I didn't wear white and not look pretty at my wedding then I will never look pretty.

I'm ages late to this comment - but if you see this, how did it go Hannah? I hope you had a beautiful day which was exactly the way YOU wanted it and completely ignored rude family members who would say something like that to you. To be honest - how dare they. The wedding is about you and your fiance and whatever dress you want to wear whatever colour and style you want is frankly nothing to do with them. Love and hugs for you Hannah, I hope you had a nice day that was perfect for the 2 of you!

Thank you so much for this video. I have some family members who are thinking its their wedding than mine. I had to cancel my wedding cause of the pandemic, and they cooled off on it. But now I'm planning it myself without them getting involved.

I’m in the same situation. Canceled twice during covid and now planning it quietly by myself. Learned my lesson after getting so much unsolicited advice (demands) from family. Easier to do now that I’ve had time to save more of my own money too, so I don’t have to run everything through opinionated in-laws. Massive relief.

Amazing video as always! I'd like to know your view on midweek weddings, we have to drive 180 miles away (everyone involved in the wedding inc bride and groom as they found a cheap venue up north). The wedding is on a Wednesday so we are travelling the day before and the day after. Is it too much to ask your guests to drive 4 hours and take 3 days of annual leave for a cheaper wedding??
@BluebirdBrideAcademy3 жыл бұрын
Thank you 😘. Mid week is getting more normal and for some couples that want more guests there, it’s the best way for their budget. They will likely know, not everyone will be able to come due to the day of the week, but is obviously a compromise they are willing to make ❤️. Xxx
