Awesome! I just love your magic and techniques Craig. I'm thinking that for someone like me who has no experience at all with hecklers, the only thing that will trump their constant interruptions is to do an Al Pacino in "Scarface" and ask them to "say hello to my little friend" 😂😂

That woman at the wedding truly was an absolute terrible spectator. I applaud you for having kept your cool. Do you also choose not to perform for certain spectators who you sense are terrible? Love your magic show, love your products, love you. Absolute legend, keep up the good work

Yes. Do not be afraid of just walking away. There will be people that do not like magic and there will be people that love what you do. I say perform for the ones that appreciate it. I was on a boat at a wedding. This group in the corner just was not reacting to anything. I then went to perform for everyone around them and had the people cheering, clapping and laughing. They kept looking at me because of all the noise and I just smiled and waved at them. I never went back to them again. Magic is great when you get a good audience! Cheers!

Great video, Craig. Through experience, I've learned not to go head to head with a heckler. 9/10 i feel the proper approach is to let the heckler know in front of everyone that they are ruining the experience of others. I'll usually nod while looking at everyone but the heckler to confirm. Usually, they'll (the group)disagree, and they'll vocalize to that person to stop because they want to see some magic. As you mentioned, there is a time and place to really go at it with them. Depending on your experience and creativity, you can really make them look foolish.

The card routine with the heckler lady was awesome world class.
@edwardodonnell68576 ай бұрын
The card to pocket was awesome I am not skilled with cards but did a venue using a Svengali deck I studied a teaching session by Daryl and no one suspected a thing for safe measure I introduced a genuine deck let them handle it check the cards then on the off beat did the old deck switch from the commercial effect called blizzard right under their nose no one detected a thing.Card lovers do study Erdanase expert at the card table which is highly recommended I admire skilled operators with cards but my obsession with coin magic has taken first place.It’s necessary to present some card tricks and Alakazam magic offer numerous commercial card routines that are easy to learn but make you look like a expert.Craig is totally correct though you need to know the effect so well that you can compromise and get out of trouble fast if challenged and there is nothing better than the genuine ability to manipulate cards it’s definitely worth the effort to learn the basics.

Craig is a legend his achievements are incredible a member of the premier magic club in the world the magic circle he knows what he is talking about.Craig has done some great projects with Alakazam magic which as a coin magician I am blown away when you put two people together like Crag Petty Peter Nardi the director of Alakazam magic you are going to get a world class product backed up by a highly professional company .Magicians love the magical arts it’s very important for me to interact with clients make their evening event special.We don’t want hecklers but we need to defuse difficult moments and win people over it’s not personal some people are just very analytical and we want them entertained and onside.Thanks for putting this out Craig the best way to learn is to learn from the working professionals you are a credit to the magical arts Craig a inspiration for coin magicians and like Danny Goldsmith your enthusiasm for coin magic is infectious I really look forward to meeting you maybe at a convention or the Liverpool or London magic circle we’ll done on your success you have earned it I am a total fan I accept this is a bit of brown nosing but I only brown nose the best.

First off, I love your content Craig. Keep it up !! What advice would you have for say children who are basically little mini hecklers ? How can we deal with a child who is truly hindering the show for myself and everyone watching . Coming up behind the table, shouting out how everything’s done talking over everyone. The parents were nowhere to be found, and honestly this little girl made my last birthday show A NIGHTMARE!!! I asked her to politely sit down and enjoy the show, she would not . The only thing I could do was involve her in everything but still, she made it very difficult. As a parent myself this was frustrating, she was the oldest child there at the party. This child knew better and was so disrespectful towards me, non of the other parents stepped in to help. It was honestly getting to be a huge concern. Am I over reacting? How can I get these children to comply or listen , they refuse to maybe go play somewhere else they need to be the Centre of attention at all times. That last birthday show I’ve done , I’ve done a few. It was the worst birthday show EVER! This child was troubled and rude. What would you do in this situation ? I even debated stopping the show but I don’t want to be an asshole but it was out of control.
@thekitchenmagician31942 жыл бұрын
I want to add something. This girl said at the beginning right when I showed up, she said to me “I’m going to stand behind this table the entire time and watch you and tell everyone how you do your tricks !! I’m not going anywhere !” And she stood there I asked her politely to sit down if she wants to enjoy the show like the rest of the children. She would not, after asking her to sit many times . She did for a little bit. She would then even before I did ANYTHING shout “ I SEEN THAT TRiCK BEFORE “ Like No you haven’t you little brat can you stop. I’ve had adult hecklers that honestly don’t even compare to this little girl. I’d love to see you do a video on bratty kids because OMG… it was a test in patience. If I never had done birthday shows before I would have been eaten Alive. This little girl was the worst heckler EVER!

Definitely great advice, especially about knowing your material well. 👍That 2nd group was a nightmare. It's natural that hecklers will arise simply because its the nature of the audience to try to figure out the magic. However, I think that if your presentation for an effect is "watch me close, you can't catch me, " you're openly inviting the audience to scrutinize, be testy, and make your life harder. I find that a non-challenging approach to presentating our tricks cuts down the amount of hecklers. Still, always be prepared when they pop up! 🙂
@vincentlem25343 жыл бұрын
For the first and second group, if you do magic with a look at my sneaky moves and see if you can catch me approach, then you may get heckling. For me, if I get a feeling that I may get a difficult spectator, then I perform Magic that is mind based or an ESP effect that has little moves or something that is story based and examinable so there is nothing for them to see. There are a few props I use where at the end, I am already for them to say let me see that and I can say sure, here it is.

I was once doing magic for a few people in the secondary school I went too. And throughout the entire show I saw somone whispering to everyone how I was doing these tricks. At one point I was preforming with a svengalli deck or invisible deck (can't remember) and he said out loud I have that trick deck too. So I could tell he was some what of a magician so I said to him "hey do you do magic at all" he said he used too. So I said "do you want to come up and proform a trick to everyone?" He seemed a little nervous but I could tell he wanted to look cool infront of his friends. So he came up and I handed him a deck of cards. He did actually do a trick but beacuse I put him in my shoes he didn't say another word for the rest of the show. He actually approached me a few days later and thanked me for doing that as that actually got him back into magic.

Yup hecklers are a different bunch Just ruining the moment for everyone else. I had a Heckler once couldnt keep her hands to herself So I just did a Mentalism routine on her (Dani Daoritz ACAAN) To my luck she said the right number Boom She was mindblown and could not backtrack anything I think Most of the time the Hecklers are just common people wanting to solve the puzzle that is magic... Maybe next time if you find a Heckler, Do try out some mentalism

I find that its not normally hecklers, its just people trying to have fun and interested in what you are doing, I find that more and more. Also creating those 'fake' hooks like you are talking about seems to enhance the performance. Doing feints, etc. I've still yet to get right through a coins across (using an extra) without people thinking I'm using an extra coin.

I'm given to think that if you utilize several routines designed to totally crush the soul of the biggest smartass, they quickly feel the sting of defeat and leave you alone. It's because he/she is clueless about the workings, especially if the method has been layered. The woman at the wedding was not especially smart, but she was persistent in her challenges.

Hey Craig, late comment but just finding this video. Im following you on 98% of what you’re saying but I’ve had mixed experiences with the second example you showed of the heckling. On one hand it certainly adds entertainment and good laugh beats into a performance, but it seems (in my less experience than you for sure) sometimes saying things along the lines of “we learn about people like you at magic school” can sometimes encourage the spectator to stay in that role you’ve given them. Especially if it’s generating laughter, do you not find it better to encourage them when they act/say/input something that’s more beneficial? I.e. if he were to say something less directly confrontational or geared toward exposing method- that’s when I would add a line or comment to generate a laugh encouraging him and letting him know he can generate attention when it adds to the magic instead of when he’s detracting or trying to catch me out? Anyway, love your content as someone just recently finding your channel! I’d love any conversation you have in this topic

I get when people are interested and want to figure it out and feel smart. But I honestly can’t stand people that are just trying their best to ruin/expose a trick. Not a care in the world that it will ruin everyone else’s enjoyment. Oblivious to everyone other than themselves.
