It’s bound to happen if you’ve been suppressing your body weight. Here’s how I coped with it, unfortunately there are no magic answers! Lots of mental toughness and a good dose of tenacity will do the trick.

❤👍 It is so ironic that traditional ed- treatment and hospital treatment teached me to be fear of my unsupressed body weight. In their books 18,5 was "healthy". I was in a bigger body but still sick. I started to restrict again when I reached that "green zone". It is scary to go over that bmi and really find out what is my adult, female, body weight. But I know that only then, I find mental freedom ❤

Thanks so much for this video. That messy space where you’re still heavily restricting but consistently gaining weight is where I’ve been for the past few years. It’s the worst. Still being so entrenched in your ED and your body growing so much simultaneously feels like torture!

I hear ya, all the more reason to just face the fear of weight gain head on and do the REwiring! Your body is trying to tell you it’s done with restriction, listen to it please!!🙏🏻🙏🏻

@@beckyfreestone9908 I think I’m just terrified that if I take the lid off the ‘hunger jar’ I might just eat myself into oblivion. Alternatively I might also bite a burger and spontaneously combust 😂😂😂 On a more serious note I really do appreciate your encouragement and insight. You’re a champion 🌷

I totally understand your fear. However I’m yet to see someone spontaneously combust so that should be encouraging.😉 Just start taking the steps towards unrestricted eating and then take it one day at a time. You can totally do it, you deserve full recovery regardless of what your weight is when you start.(repeat 1,000 times please.) I can’t say it enough.

@@BloomingLisa feel u sis. ❤ Like we talked once, it is soooo scary, but necessary step to take. Let's face the fear and unrestricted eating. If the hunger gets extreme, so be it. If body changes, it is just for healthier way.💪 ❤

Thanks for this video. Such an important topic. this is what it all boils down to, isn't it?? Fear of weight gain. I've come pretty far with it, but not far enough and my head is still messed up. Thinking about the discomfort associated with weight gain is what is keeping stuck. I find the physical struggle as hard as the whole identity/values part. I just can't get past it and it's such a miserable place to be.

The “thinking” part is where you’re getting tripped up. Stop thinking and start acting!

That fear is never going to go away until you face it via your actions.

Yes...thinking and anticipating the discomfort! For my first weight gain at the beginning of recovery (2 yrs ago) I had getting pregnant as a motivation and it still was super tough. Now after two years, pregnancy, postpartum and a few relapses I feel I have to face my fear all over again to finally really free my mind vs staying stuck in quasi recovery. This all feels so silly when I write it down, but feels so real in my head. Thanks so much for the support. Means a lot💜

Thanks for this great video! I also am very judgey about affirmations and positive self talk😏like you I've gotten desperate to recover so I just don't care what my judgey brain thinks anymore, as long as it gets me to true freedom 😀

@@beckyfreestone9908 did you grow out of shoes in recovery? I have one pair that I can squeeze my feet into, but the rest are way too tight now. I've gotten rid of all my old clothes that don't currently fit me (yay!) but I am not sure if my feet are just swollen and will go back to my normal size or not? I am not a "shoe person" by any means so it wouldn't break my heart to get rid of them, but practically I am wondering if I should hold onto them for a while or chuck them all and get new ones
@beckyfreestone9908

My feet did grow during recovery. For shoes that had straps like sandals I just loosened them and kept them, but any shoes that didn’t have any give I tossed out. My feet didn’t ever go back to the size they were when I was sick. They even grew a tiny bit in length as well strangely. I’d say just toss them if they cause you any anxiety keeping them. If not, then great, just hang onto them.☺️

@@beckyfreestone9908 that is very helpful! I was really due for an update in the shoe department anyway so I will probably just toss them. 😂

Did you overshoot Becky? And if you did what was your experience with it?
@beckyfreestone9908
@beckyfreestone9908 3 жыл бұрын
Talking about overshoot is a tricky thing bc I don’t think we should be focusing or hoping for weight to come off after recovery. I don’t talk about overshoot for this reason as well as bc Ed’s are very comparative in nature and I’d never want someone to compare their own recovery with someone else’s. I did not have a large overshoot however I did feel that my weight redistributed a bit, particularly in my face and belly. However everyone will have a different experience with this. The most important thing to remember is that unrestricted eating is for life and you can trust your body!!

@@beckyfreestone9908 Hi Becky. I had a feeling that this is your view on overshoot . I am now overweight through recovery and the only thing keeping me going with unrestricted eating is thinking that this weight is not permanent . If I knew it was permanent I would go straight back to restricting. But thank you for sharing that you did overshoot
@beckyfreestone9908
@beckyfreestone9908 3 жыл бұрын
Try to just focus on unrestricted eating and the freedom that entails. The rest will work out the way that is best for your body to thrive. Try not to focus on the weight and instead just allow yourself to see all the other things you’ve gained through recovery. I know it’s hard, I will validate your feelings here but also recognize there is so much more to life than obsessing over your weight.
