Dean would be needy and probably fluctuate between sub/soft and more dominant due to his natural need and tendencies to let go of his daily responsibilities during sex conflicting with his toxic masculinity and having sex with a man. We see in several instances that Dean actually lets the woman take the lead, throwing him against walls or beds, and he was sweet with Cassie. Cas just wants to be with Dean and whatever Dean needs. We’ve seen two versions of what his sex life could be: with April he was clearly soft and passionate; with Meg he dominated the kiss once he got with the situation. In both instances you can see that despite the different circumstances and emotions Cas was still controlled and precise - he took what he wanted but also made sure to make it pleasurable for his partner. I can honestly see both of them topping and bottoming depending on the situation. From their characterizations Dean would be needy and would at least half the time let Cas be in charge (to give him relief from having to make life altering decisions for everyone on a daily basis) and Cas would be passionate and controlled (from being a multi dimensional wavelength of celestial intent and warrior of God at least hundreds of millions of years old) no matter who was topping or bottoming. Dean could be topping but he’d still totally be a sub just like how it seems Cas might be a gentle dom even while bottoming. My personal headcanon of this headcanon is that Dean would top first because while he’s come to terms with loving Cas and wanting to be with him, he still suffers from that pesky toxic masculinity, the abuse from John and needing to conform to society’s norms. So he’s a soft, needy top the first time with Cas. And then he warms to the idea of switching. …I think I’ve thought about this too much. 💀 It’s all the fanfiction I swear!
