I think that song was from the movie, Pal Joey, starring Frank Sinatra. In the 1972 - 1973 seasons, Dean and the guests for the week did songs from old MGM movies, blending a clip from the film with the current performers. It was almost a precursor of Natalie Cole doing "duets" with her father. Frank Sinatra, Jr., was a guest one show, and, if I remember right, sang part of this song.

"I Could Write a Book" is a show tune from the 1940 Rodgers and Hart musical Pal Joey, where it was introduced by Gene Kelly and Leila Ernst. It is considered a standard. I'm surprised to see comments that claim they are not familiar with the song. ??

My partner, age 43, told me he has no interest in anything that occurred before 1976, his birth year, and I think probably a majority of Americans are like that. (Which explains a few things.)

Don’t worry, Dino. Jerry did. 💜 Note: this is the year they were rumored to reunite professionally. Apparently Dean wanted Martin & Lewis again. It never happened though and was quickly swept under the rug.

Dean really responds to the audience and the orchestra doing these live recordings. His later work seems flat in comparison to my ears mainly because he let the band lay down the tracks and then went in afterward to lay down the vocals. I think Sinatra was right here, being with the band make you more "One" with the music, like Dean was in so many of these videos from his show.
