Just want to share that the plastic balloon stick can be used as an alternative for the ridge air line tube. They do fit tight inside air tube.😊

I can’t answer on Dean’s behalf, but some people used to put a nail or screw inside planted aquariums as a source of iron. I’m pretty sure it’s been demonstrated that it’s a poor bioavailability and not recommended. My guess is like yours that it’s not intentional.

What about water changes? I know water is circulating in the canister and up to the trays, but is the fry system part of Deans auto water change system for the room?

I think he touched on that briefly. He said every 4-5 months he would remove the trays scrub the tank completely clean and do a full water change.

Great interview. How do you deal with water changes as the water level would drop too much for the fry as the water would drop too low in the trays to do one. Nitrates will get high…maybe I’m missing something. For me, I’d add a pothos or something if I can’t change the water.

@@HarlanFord thanks. Yep, I get that part, but we can’t let the water drop very low because of the dry, it maybe they are lower in the water than it looks to me and there’s room enough to do a decent sized water change…or could do one as low as the tray allows, refill and repeat.

@@firstclassfish01hey checking to see if you figured it out with your setup…. Planning to do this myself. I’m thinking when a water change is done in the big tank, the water in the fry trays won’t go dry because the sponge hole is high enough to keep water. If I understand your question correctly
