One thing about the whole episode I'm confused about is why didn't the shojo kill Tess the little girl who drank the screwdriver cocktail. And how was her mother able to see it if she wasn't drunk.
@IRFALLZ3 жыл бұрын
it wasn't specifically hunting drunk people. It was hunting certain people, just you could only see it when you were drunk.

At this point in the show, their father figure, bobby, just died. this is going to be one of the clues that leads them to realizing he never left for heaven but remained as a ghost so he could help with the leviathan problem.

This is a slight RIP OFF of the Japanese movie "The Grudge." The two representations are unaviodably similar. In Buchwald v. Paramount, Plaintiff, Art Buchwald, brought an action against Paramount Pictures Corporation for breach of contract in the development of an idea for a motion picture. Buchwald v. Paramount Pictures Corp., 13 U.S.P.Q.2d (BNA) 1497, 1990 WL 357611 (Cal.Super.Ct. 1990). After his negotiations with Paramount ended, Paramount released a film motion picture and other rights to his original story and concept, based on and derivative of his original ideas. Id. The contract between the parties, premised upon principles of copyright, obligated the defendant to compensate the plaintiff if the defendant created a series “based on Plaintiff's Program or any material element contained in [it].' Id. 10. The Court stated that a “ ‘material element’ could range from a mere basic theme up to an extensively elaborated idea. Id. The Court noted that its “based on any material element” test was “quite close to the concept of ‘inspiration for’ which was the key to the upholding of an implied contract. Id. The parallel copyright laws are instructive. Id. The fact that Paramount had access to Buchwald's material relied less of a showing similarity. Id. In Buchwald's treatment, a rich, educated, arrogant, extravagant, despotic African potentate comes to America for a state visit. Id. “Coming to America” the pampered prince of a mythical African Kingdom (Zamunda) wakes up on his 21st birthday to find that the day for his prearranged marriage has arrived. Id. at 11. There are, to be sure, differences between Buchwald's “King for a Day” and “Coming to America.” However, as noted above, where, as here, the evidence of access is overwhelming, less similarity is required. Moreover, “ ‘[E]ven if the similar material is quantitatively small, if it is qualitatively important ... the trier of fact ... may properly find substantial similarity.’ ” Id. at 11. Similarly, the idea of roaming spirits is taken from the "Grudge," to which it has access. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXOZZKJ5j9iHfMU&ab_channel=BEEN1NTENSE This is plagiarism.

The plot of the episode isn't in any way a rip off of The Grudge. The spirit is this episode is a shojo, or a spirit attached to or with an affinity for alcohol, and is being controlled by someone who is telling it to kill. In The Grudge, the ghost was that of a murdered woman, who is an onryo, or vengeful spirit of their own volition. The ghost here does look like the ghost in The Grudge, but so do several other Japanese ghosts in movies, including the one in The Ring.
