In this video, we are going around the streets of Mumbai, to truly test our stomachs, and taste some local popular street foods! We’ve had a lot of people not from India and from India warning us to be very careful of Indian street food. Today, we are sticking to the less touristy area around the Mumbai Suburban District to taste the food and test our stomachs like some of the locals here in Mumbai. What is your favorite Indian Street Food? #IndianStreetFood #IndianFoodTour #Mumbai

I once, many years ago, had a bowl of curry that had been sat in a heater on a Yorkshire pub bar all day in summer. It was only about 40p or something so a useful snack. I felt a bit nauseous almost instantly, spewed in the toilet and then manfully got on with the serious business of drinking. That would be the only time food has made me a bit ill and I've eaten some right shit at some shitty places. Guts of iron.

My best food poisoning story was from a Chinese buffet restaurant. The restaurant was called abacus, and it was located a short distance from where we lived. At the time it was my boyfriend now my husband, and when I went up to the buffet to get TAMAGO sushi my boyfriend said don’t eat that. It’s probably been sitting out here all day. But I said it’s buffet. I’m sure the sushi will be safe. Little did I know that this caused me to have the worst food poisoning event ever! After eating at the Chinese buffet restaurant, it was about 10 minutes later when I really didn’t feel well. I told Wayne we had to go home and since I’m the only one driving license I had to drive myself home. I stopped the car short of my driveway and told Wayne you got part the car. I wound up puking my guts out on the front lawn on my neighbours house. Wayne parked the car and surprisingly to me. He came back and I said oh you came back for me. We laugh about those all the time and that was at least 20 years ago. I never eat sushi on a buffet. I only eat sushi that’s in the refrigerator case.

Mid-teens at Tel Aviv beach, I went to a restaurant and ordered a chicken shawarma plate for lunch. It was early, the place was open, but didn't look fully set up yet. Food arrives, it looks beautiful. I'm eating and reading on my phone. Halfway through, I notice the chicken is undercooked. I thought, "Yup, I'm in trouble." It hit that evening walking back to the hotel from a museum. Up all night sick, didn't leave the hotel room the next day. Day after that I walked the beach promenade and had a couple beers, which helped settle my stomach. Day after that, was my early morning flight back to the Arab country where I was working. Still feeling ill from the food poisoning, sweating and nervous, little to eat past two days, very little sleep, and flying to an Arab country (before the Abraham Accords), I threw a bunch of red flags at Airport Security. So after a long discussion with a security supervisor, I was free to leave. Just a comedy of errors.

no matter what country you go, the first few days, the stomach usually is upset. Whenever i travel to USA, the first three days my stomach is always upset. This is usually because of water, the treatment of water differs a bit in pretty much all countries in the world. So if you don't want horrendous stomach problems, as soon as you get to a new place, drink the local drinking water to get your stomach used to the water there.

It's stereotyping , if you are from such high-per capita nations , you can definitely spend more and easily eat the most hygienic food here in India , but if you want to get food poisoning and then complain about I wish I shouldn't get , then that's hypocrisy. If you want to try street food , try it in government certified places , where people are being following hygiene measures , don't complain , India have a wide range of delicious food options for the poorest people to the middle class to the rich people, they are not meant for travellers .

Honking is the reason people are not hitting each other whenever there are vehicles with pedestrians walking on the road,on proper highways flyways ,its not that common and people just move along quietly,on crowded streets,its a way of saying 'be careful I am coming in' as not all roads have signs in India.

Eating street food has nothing to do with getting sick/Delhi belly. I had white friends over who stayed in 5 star hotels, ate there basically the whole time and drank packaged drinking water. Still got sick. Then I saw a KZbinr a few months back who did the street food challenge, ate and drank everything from the street food vendor...wasn't sick for the next two weeks. So it's not the food or the water.

15:17 Your expression said it all. Paan may not appeal to most foreigners trying it for the first time. The taste is very intense / strong. The title of the video could have been more subtle. Street food being unhygienic in India? Yes, partly true. Foreigners who come to India for the first time and eat spicy food from street food vendors and restaurants experience stomach upsets because the balance of the gut flora gets disturbed and needs time to get used to the new dishes. If you have stayed long enough in India, you will know exactly what I mean. While you’re at it, might as well boost your immunity further. 😉

Well hate to tell you this dude but I lived in India for almost 3 years as a foreigner, and I can tell you that that I’m definitely not stereotyping or being unrealistic. During the time I was there, there was a Plague epidemic and many of my newly made Indian friends died. Do you know what the cause of that epidemic was? Rats eating in the piles and mountains of garbage is in the street. Even the newspaper had a headline in those days that stated . “ a garbage dump called India “. This was a headline from an Indian newspaper made by an Indian person. No stereotype or racism there. Just reality .India is a 3rd World country and for us north Americans who come from a first world country, and who have high standard of living, it takes a bit of getting used to.**** for anyone’s reference @vinayravi9343 -the bubonic plague epidemic that I am referring to was in 1994 in Bombay. Flew back to Canada and had to stop in Amman Jordan to go in isolation for 2 days taking giant pills. Scary times.***

People say the same thing about the hot dog trucks in NYC. I've lived on foods from all over for decades and I've only gotten food poisoning (as in winding up in hospital) once. And that was in Philly at a decent place that happened to have an issue that day. (bunch of people became rather ill, cause unknown) And that was a "clean" restaurant, so don't go bustin' on street food and street carts with a video title that's inflammatory. There's a lot of food trucks where I live, and I've never become ill from any of them. Just use your common sense.

A ton of ridiculously sensitive people in the comments over a relatively innocuous title. No country in the world is perfect. It's a fact that some Indian street food vendors have been caught red-handed for poor hygiene. That doesn't mean the whole country, but it's enough that it's noteworthy and one should exercise caution when trying the street food there.

@rureal7742
@rureal7742 4 ай бұрын
Maybe there are no available grassy fields in that area (I'm guessing). And since cows are considered sacred so not "owned" by anyone, they roam freely. I visited India once but in a different part of India and was surprised to see cows roaming on the highways and also in the side streets. There were no grassy fields there either. I wonder where or what do they eat there.
@drakenkraken8455
@drakenkraken8455 4 ай бұрын
@@rureal7742 India does not have much grasslands. There are half starved stray cows and buffaloes all over India- like 5 million. The cowherds just release them after they stop giving milk. And males- are useless in the age of tractors. Some are secretly offed for veal but this is risky in India. Most are simply dumped. They roam everywhere eating garbage, trampling fields and causing accidents and maybe eaten by leopards.
