It always amazes me when people say someone from one of the most successful bands in the history of the world is underrated. He’s won Guitarist of the Year in Guitar Player Magazine at least once. He plays to millions of people. Many would say he’s decidedly overrated. Not me, but there’s many.

Great interview! Lars and James are very fortunate that Kirk joined them. He brings a levelheaded attitude to them that I really believe is what kept this band together. Really enjoyed this Dean!

No one ever seems to be unhappy when talking to Dean on his Podcast. They must realize from the first words that this is not going to be your typical, boring let-me-ask-you-the-same-questions-you've-heard-a-million-times-before interview. It's NOT an interview these are actually conversations between two people that are passionate about all the subjects that are brought up. Whenever I see big names pop up on the LTBT podcast I'm mostly excited for Dean. He deserves it all. Thank you Dean for keeping this show alive.

What a tremendous interview, the time flew by and I was struck when Kirk spoke about how when they, Metallica, start an album and have really know idea what it will turn out as like the "Black Album" , it was basically created on the spot, VERY similar to what visual Artist do before they start a new piece, it's just created out of inspiration and experience. I have a very under-viewed Metallica video on my YT channel performing "Master of Puppets" w/ Cliff in the band still so check it out if your interested. Art should never be free, if Artists & Musician's don't get paid, they die totally destitute and have a horrible lonely existence until their last breath, trust me, I speak from decades of experience. Cheers Dean & Kirk for the upload and interview. #Peace

You should definitely check out MetFan4L on KZbin he has some amazing videos on his page on KZbin....I started watching his vids like a month ago and I watch them trying to watch every live concert some pro shot videos some are only the Soundboard Audio which sounds great with headphones on \m/ \m/
The gallop came from Iron Maiden's first album and UFO's "Lights Out"....anyone who knows Metal knows that. Fuse it with Deep Purple's "Fireball" and Motorhead's "Overkill" and palm mute it and you get the Bay Area Chug. All inspired by England and Germany...never forget that we invented Heavy Metal as you know it.\m/

I've never understood the huge appeal to Les Paul's that much, but there must be something to them because most guitarists love them I know they're the like OG Grandfather of guitars next to Leo Fenders guitars
@Online_ToughGuy5 жыл бұрын
Daniel Blake I was lucky enough to have been handed down a made in Japan 88 strat that is absolutely killer...so I’ve never felt the need the need to venture out and shop for a second guitar. I do understand the appeal of LP’s though...if you have smaller hands they are WAAAY easier to blast licks on than fenders are. The fret spacing and shorter neck is just a bit easier to get around on.
@danielblake15375 жыл бұрын
@@Online_ToughGuy yea that's true....which actually would work better for me in my case because I have smaller hands but I prefer strat body styles or SG and I love V's even tho they're a pain in the ass to sit down and play and I like James Hetfield's Gibson style guitars from ESP

Even when Metallica had different bass players starting with Cliff, Jason, then Rob. Kirk was always the one who was the closest to them. James and Lars I don’t think we’re close to those guys like Kirk was.
@brianm28815 жыл бұрын
It would be hard to imagine Metallica going back with Fleming Rasmussen and knocking out a classic album in 4 weeks. It's a nice idea, but as Lars said in his Q interview, there comes a point in your career where you just have to go into the studio and put the time in. It just seems like as you get further into your career, great songs and riffs become harder to come by, and you have to work harder to get to them. It's like drilling for oil in that regard. Also, I think Metallica have done a lot of attempting to reconnect with their earlier sound through the 2 most recent albums. I think the band's at their best when they make the record their fans weren't totally expecting and has a sound that is a departure.
