Hey dude, I'm a fellow contractor, floor and wall tiler by trade, I love your videos!. I repair most of my makita gear myself, mainly brushes, though. On my off time, I usually sink myself a few too many brews. When the missus catches my stash of beer, she confiscates it. After when there's no beer left I spend my time fixing and reburshing 2nd hand wrist watches on the side, (weird i know but not to me) I see your casio WR almost every video. I love the nostalgia of it but let me send you a special seiko from my collection, itl be the last watch you ever need to buy. As a thankyou from 🇦🇺 and meny other countries you've touched 😊

That's an amazing find, Dean. Would also love to see some tool teardown videos. I know you don't normally fix the low end consumer stuff like Ryobi, but I think seeing you tear them apart (literally and verbally) would be quite interesting. Edit: Nothing against Ryobi. I own quite a few myself. But, seeing what makes it different in build quality and construction would be interesting.

That sticker with the arrowhead on it says that the unit was supplied to the UK MoD which explains why it sat around so long and got left. It's been on a shelf at ABRO Donnington where all the storemen knew it was a non-runner but nobody wanted to do the paperwork to send it the mile down the road to Makita EU at Telford. I bet it cost the UK taxpayer more than 700 Euro in the first place and the cost of storing it for eighteen years doesn't bear thinkng about. Good score for you Mr. D. Hopefully you'll get a few more like that. Follow that seller.

Great video thanks, I was given a faulty much cheaper Dewalt rotary/hammer similar size to this, the motor was really noisy, I put the model number into ebay search and a couple of weeks later the same model appeared with a faulty gearbox, split the 2, swapped parts over it’s a very capable diy Sds drill/ breaker. You get such a sense of pride at saving something. I got a power mini belt file/ sander with case in Lidl for £5 because all the bolts for the accessories were lost. A quick rummage around in the garage and I have saved another useful unusual tool.

Congratulations on a terrific find. Also yes to tool teardown vids on all the usual suspects like drills, planers, routers, saws etc. I've bought a pair of those fancy knee pads you did a video on a while ago and I'm not disappointed and also got the Skil battery drill for home use and that's a great little drill. I use all Makita cordless tools at work it's just a bit of a challenge to get my boss to part with the cash to get the brushless tools. 😅

I'd enjoy some teardown videos, although I tear down every machine I've ever purchased, new or used!! haha

Good morning Dean. I would like to see a tare down of a new Dewalt first fix nail gun. I've got an old one and the rapid fire button is all loose. I took it to pieces to free it up and it came appart and I've no idea what part has come out to make it tight. And I think that expensive part on mine is no good. Ive replaced the two springs and it will still not sink nails. I love watching you repair everything you pick up. Kind regards Pete over in the UK.

Well done! Its a great feeling when you find a bargain. I used to scour junk shops and found a few gems but it became harder to find stuff when junk shops started to die out after the late 1990s. As examples I found a book on travel in ireland illustrated by WB Yeates for 50p that sold on ebay for over £50 and an old SME HiFi pickup arm attached to a broken turntable for a fiver. The arm sold to a Japanese ebayer for £270. An vintage fixed spool fishing reel again went to Japan for £120. Ah, the good old days. Ironically Ebay helped to kill off the junk shops and rising rents and rates did the rest!

Re- previous comment, taking new tools apart to look at components and assess their quality makes great content, I’m sure in 2006 this hammer would have been made in Japan and so been top quality. And put together properly, and so it would have been nice to see you pull the recent evolution circ saw apart so that you could assess the good and bad of its internals, parts costs etc. I get more and more frustrated at just how quickly a perfectly good tool has to go in the bin just because a part is almost as expensive as a replacement tool. Makita brushless stuff is great until they’re out of warranty, it would be nice to know which tools are actually serviceable without hitting the “ uneconomical to repair” mark ..!! Also is there anyone in the uk who will re- wind / repair domestic tool motors.??👍💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
