Toni Wilson I thought he was referring to a person off camera who appeared to be assisting him. He was obviously eye balling someone. I thought maybe a cue card person or director since he appeared to be getting some assistance off camera like where to sit or which camera to look at and which cards to read.

I think I read or heard in an interview with someone from the show that he started the 3rd person compliments bc he was amused at Greg Garrison’s-after Dean’s first run-through of music when they were about to do the first show taping-having announced to everyone on set, “Can this kid sing or WHAT?” (Or something to that effect. It apparently made Dean laugh.)
