Let's face it! Neither the shipper OR the carrier NEED a broker! Carriers need to take a business class and deal DIRECTLY WITH the shipper. Freight brokers don't have trucks to haul ANY of the Freight. They are making a living off of carriers' ignorance and laziness. CARRIERS have the advantage. They just give it away! 😅

Seen a few people saying brokers should charge 20%....... 20% is steep, for someone to have a printer and a couple of fees per month charging 20% of your money is absurd. ----Brokers should be limited to 10% and capped at $300-$500 total. ---Need to focus more on volume and less on gouging people. ---Trust me, they will have people calling them for loads and not searching for someone to cover it.

You are no exception and you know how the frustration for two years has built up because we have barely been able to keep up with the maintenance at high fuel cost with this shit trash, rate. The only person to be blamed is the Broker. We have no choice, but to take the trash rate and move the freight else will be bankrupt and lose our truck. It may be our house to. We need to keep the payments going, and just for the sake of paying the bills we have to take this trash rate from these brokers they are the ones eating up all the money sitting behind a computer screen they don’t deserve to be in this industry.

She basically described the economic 'bullwip effect' in trucking terms. Inflation in CPI data does not include essentials such as 'food and energy' because of the 'volatility' of these items. You know, the items you need to survive. Now we are entering hard times and people unfortunately in all industries have the sunk cost fallacy in the back of their heads. It's much harder to lose money than to gain money. Unfortunately, that's human nature. She understands human nature very well.

Miranda I’ve said this and said this and said this. The Brokers did the WORSE thing possible by starving out so many companies. It needed to happen, but how they did it was terrible. It’s going to kill them in the end and it’s going to be VERY bad for a lot of brokers. I kept saying just pay carriers fair rates and when the market flip it wouldn’t be a take as much from them as possible, but greed consumes so many of them. So it’s going to be BAD for so many brokers when the market fully turn. Rates will be extremely high and a lot of brokers will lose customers because of it.

It bugs me that I don’t get to know how much of a cut the broker gets. It bugs me more that I realize that it really shouldn’t matter. I have to take responsibility for not negotiating better rates and knowing the market better. I guess it would just be a lot easier to know the brokers cut. And I am sure we could agree on a mutually equitable rate that way. 😊
@nunyabidness7204 Жыл бұрын
You are definitely not the only one who thinks transparency would make things better, and you are exactly right when you said it shouldn’t matter. Transparency became a much more hot button topic when things slowed down and rates dropped. Think about this; while you would like transparency in the hope it would help you negotiate a better rate, how would you feel if the brokers decided you needed to be transparent in your costs and profit margin? I wouldn’t like it one bit because the next thing that would happen is they would try and tell you how much you should be allowed to profit. The transparency street runs both directions. I believe this; if you know your cost of operation, I mean really know, use that as your guide, if you can’t cover your costs AND make a profit, pass. If you are consistently unable to find loads that cover costs and make a profit, you need to take a hard look at your operation and make some very hard decisions. You will NEVER negotiate a mutually beneficial rate when a broker sold the shipper on the fact he could move a load for $1.25 a mile.

Can you please do a video on load boards so the rest of us who don’t have accounts can see what the rates are like? The reason I ask is because load boards won’t let me create an account unless I have an active DOT number, and in order to have my DOT authorized by FMCSA I need insurance on file. Meaning that in order for a guy like me to even see if this industry will be worth it, I have to invest $300 into a DOT number and another several thousand $ for insurance down payment just so I can create an account and view load boards. It’s silly in my opinion because it’s making me commit to something before I even get a chance to see what the loads and prices are like. Pretty much forcing you to go into the industry blindly. Thank you for all that you do.

Excellent explanation of Shipper/broker/carrier relationships, I would add that ever since the "Keystone Shutdown" the freight industry, and the economy as a whole nosedived because gas prices shot up from low $1.89 to $4.69 depending on where you live. The econony runs on ENERGY, and price of energy, thus the skyrocketing energy prices across the world is the ROOT CAUSE of the HORRIBLE FREIGHT PRICES AND ECONOMIC DOWNTURN!!! IMO😮. Also Saudi Arabia and Russia(number 2 and 3 World Energy Suppliers) have decided to severly cut there energy production levels through the end of the year, UK Brent Crude is over 90 dollar a barrel. Translation-more economic hurt for everybody.😮😢

As a carrier myself. It is 💯% the carriers fault. We honestly determine the market value regardless of supply and demand. Unfortunately, and let's be honest, a lot of owner operators are amazing at driving but terrible on the business side of things as well as managing money so they get into this panic mode and panic bid and end up taking hundreds under the 15 day average which ultimately drives the prices down over time. Don't take below the 15-day unless you need to be somewhere and even then, try to keep searching for something that makes sense.

The whole concept of brokering offering a load way below the cost of operation is bananas. Try 13:45 doing that in any other sector except large scale business ventures trying to exponentially grow such as Amazon. Even big players such as Uber are rethinking the motto of subsidizing the ride-share industry. We're waiting for the pendulum to swing back again, which I am absolutely confident it will. Business that thrive on supply and demand without the most minimum decency and respect about livelihoods are destined to cease to exist with time. In todays world you leave a digital and permanent trail the way you operate for better or for worse.
