Excellent video as always! Too many people try to just copy what they see other people doing successfully not considering their target market or what the core mission of the business is. Then they wonder why they flopped. 20 years in sales management has taught me that if you focus on your "why" and your "who", the money will follow. If your focus is sales, your performance will dip. Your customer can tell if you see them as a dollar sign instead of someone your company wants to enrich the life of. Everything you do and every decision you make should be done with your customer in mind and the value you are adding to their lives.

It's hard to define my market at my age. I am thinking of people I know first and they are all over fifty. The mindset of how older people spend their money is a bit different. I consider candles to be a luxery. Younger audiences think more of home decor, entertaining in their home and the the overall ambience a candle adds to their environment. But I am not sure how to reach that audience. So I sent some sample candles to my nephew who is interested in the Real Estate market. I figured I might be able to tap into his market if I came up with something that he could offer as closing gifts. At the same time people in my ciricle have expressed interest in supporting my business. I need to figure out how to bridge that gap.

You can do both really. Word of mouth is good advertising. Also can give samples to your friends kids? Their families? I been doing the same trying to define my market because i would like everyone to like them. I do agree with you its hard. But if you want to target younger I would find something trendy. Change candle names to something younger gen can relate too. Younger audience will be buy because cosmetic thats what will catch their attention at first. I know for me and You arent much older than me ( I am 44) its gotta catch my eye then i will smell it. I know Erica said not worry about cosmetic but if you got your product to your liking and selling then change up the name the look of the label for certain scents. May help🤷‍♀. Good luck!!

I have realtors who purchase my candles as closing gifts for their clients. I always offer my linen scent as it’s a neutral scent. Good luck with your business.

Thank you for your vids! I got your ebook and will start it soon! yay! I know you said before to focus on the product more so than the business because if you don't have a good product then selling will be hard. More so the performance of the candle (HT/CT, wax type). So i been doing that! But i also doing my research as far as what to do on starting a business. I didn't think much of marketing as of yet because i wanted to get my product to my liking which I am still working on. Definitely will be doing more marketing research but I have a issue with my target market. I haven't figured that one yet really. I am going a couple different ways and just like to target whoever but i know i should narrow that focus. Thank you

Is it safe to use paint on my candles? I want to paint flowers on the outside of my candles and some have 3D designs that I want to paint, but I’ve been getting a few different answers on google. Some say it’s okay to use water base non toxic acrylic paint but others say it doesn’t matter if the paint is non toxic, acrylic paint still should be burned or near a flame because it’s still made of plastic…..so….anyone have any advice for me?

I struggle with this so much, because isn't my target audience people who buy candles? That can be any and everyone. I truly don't know how to do this part. Do you have advice for how to actually get an tangible idea of what this is.

My personal opinion is go through your passion and gut feeling. That will lead you to your own style. I have a style when I buy candles. I have bought all kind, some look georgous and smell only when I open it. Afterwards is just wax melting doesn't smell like anything when I burn it. I love candles that smell lovely everytime I burn it. To me doesn't matter who you are trying to sell it, the vessel or how they look. The smell is everything. I am a candle lover ❤️
