I know what harcore mode is. the word "har" meaning an expression of amusement or derision; often sarcastic, and then "core" a noun to refer to the central or most important part of something, putting them together means this new game mode will most likely be a gamemode similar to the April fool's update except as a permanent gamemode

Usually hardcore mode in java edition, it can only be accessed if the game difficulty is set to hard. so if you set your difficulty to hard, you should be able to enable harcore mode.

The toggle is there but it’s greyed out which means they are working on it. I have no idea how frequently they are working on harcore mode considering raytracing and upscaling have been greyed out in the menus for years.
