Robert is supposedly a huge Hall & Oates fan, he saw them live in the 70s and ended up making Darryl Hall's wonderful first solo album, Sacred Songs. I want to know if Robert still has his old Les Paul's and those magnificently monolithic Hiwatts from the 70s.
@CornishMotorcycleDiaries4 жыл бұрын
Daryl Hall sang on Robert's first solo album, which is about to be re-issued, so I think the feeling is mutual.
@shawnmcvey77894 жыл бұрын
@@CornishMotorcycleDiaries Darryl was supposed to sing every song, but the record companies made it too difficult. Fripp has even gone on to say that he was the best singer he ever worked with. Supposedly he was only supposed to play guitar on Sacred Songs but Darryl fired the producer pretty quickly in favor of Fripp, which led to an awesome collaboration. Unfortunately the record companies delayed Sacred Songs and never promoted it because it wasn't "radio friendly enough".

Can someone please write the name of that JT Bennett book that Fripp mentioned??
@DarkeningSkies14 жыл бұрын
John G. Bennett (J.G.), actually. Fripp mentions that it was a transcript of a speech, so it may not be available. However, any of Bennett's writings on Gurdjieff will definitely cover some of the same ground...
@radioalternativemusicdotco12934 жыл бұрын
The author is actually "JG Bennett". The title of the book is "Is There Life On Earth". Robert refers to a postscript in the book that is a transcription of a lecture Mr. Bennett gave at "The International Academy For Continous Education".

Sorry for being so crass: how much do you get out of the $200 concert ticket I bought last year? Seriously, though, how does it all work? How does that concert ticket money get split?
@progrules53094 жыл бұрын
With most musical groups they announce they are going on tour. The cost per performance is $XX. This covers band salaries. (In the case of Crimson I would imagine the musicians have a fee they charge per night. This is different than other bands who are only in the one group) Gear techs (set up, tear down trouble shoot and maintain the instruments. ) Soundman, controls what the audience hears Monitor mixer, controls what the band hears onstage. PA rental and Lighting and the techs necessary to set it up and run it. Trucks and drivers to get to the next show. Fuel for the trucks Buses and drivers to get the band and the crew members to the next show. Fuel for buses That's what is covered in the bands asked for price per performance. The promotor has to figure in cost of the venue, local labor, security, any permits from the city, and what he needs to take in to make a profit. Depending on how popular the band is in that area can determine what size venue to rent and how much to charge to cover his costs. Promoter can take a lose sometimes on up and coming bands but might feel they will become more popular in the future and will make up for it in the future. Hope this gives you some idea of where the money goes.
