Madewell shirts are my favorite! I have some that I bought 3/4 years ago that are still beautiful. No pilling, color hasn’t faded. I have them in tons of different colors. I’ve been interested in the Everlane shirts, so I’ll have to place an order!

Some great basics brands I've found with ethical business structures are Franc and Organic Basics. I have white shirts from each that are super soft and opaque without being heavy. Hope this helps you, Bethany, or anyone who reads this!

Thanks for this video. I hate having to constantly replace poor quality clothing but I also don’t want to pay a fortune. Cuyana was the perfect price point and you are right about their drapey fit, slight sheen, and tightly woven fabric. Unfortunately their short sleeve crew neck white T has been sold out since about Oct/Nov and they have never restocked (I’m on the notification list). Their black slim turtleneck and black long sleeve T have become workhorses in my closet. Im buying their crew and v necks in black, navy, and stripe. I wont need to buy these color Ts for a VERY long time. Excellent quality and softness. I am extremely impressed. Thanks for the vid bc I had never heard of the brand prior 🙏🏽

I really like the levis white tee with just a little stitched logo, not everyone's cup of tea but lasted me now over a year and still looks and feels amazing ☺️ It's got a medium fabric thickness and looks really good, similar to the 195$ shirt 😊

I would really love to see an updated version of this exact video, as I am getting increasingly frustrated with appealing drops in clothing quality, even by brands that were once known for good quality clothes or at least basics. There's countless posts about how the same item was bought 5 years ago and nowadays, but the quality has dropped significally.

Entireworld makes my favorite Ts, I love their "easy t" and the fact that they list all the measurements in the description of the garment. They're also a small company and use mostly organic/recycled cotton :)

Thank you for the video! I'm glad you mentioned Jesse Kamm because I'm interested in white tees that are not sheer and have longer sleeves. Sheer tees are not practical in the Midwest! I bought a men's Uniqlo Alexander Wang white tshirt and it is the best white tee for me in terms of thickness and sleeve length...not every women wants a teenie weenie tee shirt. I don't know the ethical standards of Uniqlo but it's the best I could find regarding my preferences.

Universal standard makes AMAZING tees. I think they are a bit of a blend, but the fabric is the softest and so drapey. And they have sizing for everyone- I believe sizes 00 to 40. And you will like their sleeves!

Especially shorts that are made of linen or ones that are more classy/structured (an example would be the pixie market shorts featured on your IG). For the fall/winter, a video on turtlenecks/mock necks. Those are two items I have the hardest time deciding where to purchase them from because while it seems like every store is starting to have them, they vary so much in quality/price/fit/durability!

Have you tried t-shirts from Z-Supply? They cost about $40. They look great even when it goes through a washing machine & dryer. Summer has lighter weight fabric & fall/winter are a little thicker. The v-neck is my favorite but the round neck is still very good!

Yes to more videos like this. Max Mara has a one shoulder t shirt for this season that I felt in love with. Went to Macys found a white t shirt in the men department and i did cut it similar to the MM the material is nice thick and cut was of the sleeve was ok but no the same like a drope shoulder from MM, so I am still in the hunt for a white t shirt with drope shoulder.

Thanks so much for this video, very informative! I have had many issues finding the right white tee or black tee for over ten years. Either the shirts are too see-through, too glittery, too cropped (I don't like crop tops on me), and since I have found your channel I have had more success in finding the right basic tops, jeans and other items I haven't bought. I am being more kind with my skin and my health, and planet earth so now I am shopping thoughtfully and purposefully. All I wore over the years were hand me downs or thrifted items. It's great to find out that there are stores out there creating items repurposed and upcycling fabrics. I will be checking out the mentioned online stores. 😊❤️🎄 🎁

Love this video! I’m really rough on my tees since they’re part of my signature style. The madewell tee really didn’t work for. I have found that Madewell t’s lose their shape quickly. I liked jcrew’s supima cotton one which is more opaque, softer and lasted longer than the Madewell one. My favorites are wildfox (around $50) and marine layer (around 30).

hi, Bethany, such an interesting and thoughtful comparison, thanks so much. You might want to look into Agnes b. t-shirts (agnesb.com). It's a classic French brand, and although they change their offerings every season, they always offer a style called "Brando" with short sleeves (there's also a version with elbow-length sleeves). The fabric is very opaque and true white. The construction reminds me of the Jesse Kamm shirt, at least as far as I can tell from the video, but the price point is much lower, somewhere around $80. I don't think it would last more than. a year or two, but that is how all white t-shirts are, in my experience. They inevitably lose that fresh, pristine look, but you can always use them to wear under a sweater, etc. And I think you would really love Agnes b., the look is very French but a little more urban than, say Sezane. And no, I don't work for them. Just a longtime customer and, like you, petite. Love your videos!

"Body" is the correct word for tshirts that hold their shape and are not overly thin. Manufacturers use the word "soft" to describe tshirts that are thin, flimsy, and floppy.

I just recently purchased several linen-feel tees from H&M for $9.99 apiece. Don't know how well they will hold up but I like their feel and cut very much. The idea of buying an almost $200 tee-shirt just makes my insides cramp. I would rather buy a less expensive tee and spend the rest of the $200 buying books for a public school library. I wish I were able to be more comfortable with going the luxury route, it's probably a neurotic thing, but it's just the way I feel, so I decided to express myself... (I DO love clothes, though!)
