"Instead of worrying about if other people like you...." we've all heard this advice before and know what comes next, right? The next line is supposed to be, "start liking yourself for who you are and don't worry about what anyone thinks." But Lindsey changes it up. Her answer (summarized) is, "Start liking other people. Make a positive difference in other people's lives, and you will build your own confidence in the process." It's very much a reversal from the typical advice where we're told to ignore the rest of the world. Her advice is to embrace it, look outwards, and be a model for how all people should be. Lindsey is super talented, but she's also wicked smart.

When Lindsey said that celebrities are nice with the most oblivious face, I almost burst into a laughing fit. Like, "no really? Couldn't tell. It's not like I'm subscribed to one of the most talented and nicest violinist in the world..."

This video summarized some of the most important things you have already taught me. This video is what I need to watch every morning before school, to remember these important things. So I can stop being worried about my how I look and to feel confident. You have already brought so much positivity to my life, and I can't imagine what I would be right now if I wouldn't have found you almost 2 years ago now. You have helped me grow and become the person I am today. I feel so incredibly lucky to have you as my role model and inspiration. This got a lot deeper than I thought but I felt like I haven't tried to bring you back the positivity and support that you are giving me in a while, and hopefully you will read this and feel proud about yourself, because you should ^.^ Thank you for everything!

I think I have to leave some words here in the comment area, after I surprisingly found out that this video was released on March 3rd, 2015, my 18th birthday, when I finally became an adult! Well, I'm a fresher in my college, Peking University in China, where KZbin is blocked and I have to use a VPN to visit your channel illegally (actually not a big deal :-P). I always love music but has been educated as a standard bachelor. I major in computer science, you know, kind of nerdy...not liking it. And you made me aware that, if I can't change the world, I can change my view. And I made it - after you started it. I can find my own way to happiness. I must give my special thank to you, not only for your amazing music, but also for all the inspiration you gave to me. It's so unbelievable that how spirit can infect each other. Wish I could see you some years later after I flew to USA to study for my PhD~ PS: It's really hard to get fans in a country where people are banned from KZbin XD

I've often wondered what advice I'd give to my younger self, but then have realised how flawed a concept it would be. To advise yourself to do things differently would result in a change in who you grow up to become. I am a firm believer in the concept that our actions, experiences and people we encounter shape the people we become. Change your past actions and you change those experiences/encounters. To give such advice is tantamount to saying "I'm not happy with who I grow up to be, but rather than changing who I am in the present, I'm going to get my younger self to do all the hard work for me!". If you're happy with who you are, surely you would give no advice to your younger self, rather than risk changing the person you have grown into. If, on the other hand, you aren't happy with who you are, would it not be better to start now, rather than in the past? As for Lindsey's advice... I would be inclined to say that it is advice suitable for every teen, not just her younger self, but is also advice that, even when given, practically every teen will ignore. Then again, given the opportunity, would Lindsey still give such advice to her younger self if she knew it would risk changing the person she has grown into? She appears to believe, as I do, that our experiences shape who we become (thinking particularly about her previous statements that her time on AGT are, whilst painful at the time, something she wouldn't change as it pushed her to become the success we have all come to admire). Would she really give herself advice that would lead to her not experiencing some of the challenges, the overcoming of which has been instrumental (sorry... Couldn't resist!) in developing the talents and confidence that draw us all here?

Ok...I am in 8th grade right now, and i am really struggling. I know its a hard time in everyone's life but i really want you to know that you have changed, and saved so many peoples lives through music and your overall brightness that you present. I just want to say thank you so much for all that you have done for me, and countless others!!!

I'm only 15 and I'm pretty much going through the same thing little Lindsey is going through as well. But I always be myself around others. They may think I'm weird, and trust me: they do, but it's me and I love me. I LOVE MEEEE!!!

Zelfurd I'm pretty weird too. But I like that about me and to be honest my friend like that too because all my silly ideas and so on make them laugh and that makes me happy. Wow. I really wish I had someone say those words of wisdom to me when I was in junior high. You hit the nail right on the head with this one. Junior high was by far the worst experience for me, mostly because I was a target for being picked on mostly because I was one of those shy kids who didn't talk a lot. If I had someone say something like this to me when I was 13 I feel like my junior high experience would have been better. You are truly an inspiring person, not just with your talent on the violin (which is absolutely amazing), but with the advice you give to people, telling people that they should follow their dreams, and just being and all around good person. You have inspired me to follow my dreams, and even pursue some new ones hopefully soon! Any who, I love the videos that you put out; they are very entertaining, and I hope to see you at another concert in Wisconsin in the future. You are the best Lindsey. :-)

Good advices, Lindsey. They are not only useful for 13 year old girls, some of them can be very useful for grown ups. Like sharing love and doing everything to make other people feel good, not only think about themselves. If everyone followed these simple advices, the world woud become much better place. I just imagined little lindsey with peacock-styled hair. I bet that looked very cute. ^^

I feel like a lot of your advice to yourself is something I needed to hear in high school too, as well as to not be afraid of going to a counselor and signing up for sessions because you need someone to turn to and to express yourself and feel like a human again.

wow this is exactly what I would have told myself if I had the chance. as a teen I was so worried about what people thought about me, I literally gave up even trying. I kept my head down, never had friends and frankly, just felt sorry for myself. even though I was the cause of all of it when I really look back. unfortunately my parents never cared enough to notice what I was going through. took me till my late twenties to finally realize the real issue(s) and am still working on improving. makes me sad to think other kids go through this

it's a really inspirational video!! i think i'd personally tell my younger self to do whatever i want to and not stop by fear of what others might think about it and also to stop staying friend with people who only bring me down, i would have been better alone and maybe i would have realize that there was people who would have accepted me for who i was and would have not tried to change me and with who i could have shared better moments. but there's still so much more things i need to convince myself about what i am worth or not

That is one good motivation video Lindsey Stirling. Your never lost for words and that makes for an excellent speeker of knowledge , I would have told my self to never follow be to only lead. And to make goals and always plan ahead. I have one question back at ya! If the technology existed and you could live out a movie in real time what would it be? I know its a dumb question, but hey it don't cost a thang to do a little day dreaming. Thank you so much for your advice and wisdom, if you were my wife I would do every single thing you ask me to do, because I would know i my heart you would have me in your best of intentions.

Wow, this video really made me think about what's happening to me today. I'm 14 and I really work hard to make friends but NO. I don'yt need to work hard to be friends with the popular ones. I just need to be friends with the people who also has the same things as me. Thank you Lindsey! I'm going to share this advice to other kids/teenagers that I will meet in the next annual students' convention. I will share everything that inspired me to be me.

Be friends with those who will accept you for who you are. If ever you are in need of someone, you friends and family should be the first ones you think of. You have also truly gotten into the spirit of the #DearMe. It should not only be an inspiration for us to do better and work for what we want and believe in, but an inspiration for us to inspire others to do the same. Just some advice: DON'T WAIT. You can still share it at the annual student's convention, but don't wait for it. Inspire others now.

hi linds, i've always been a huge fan of yours! i found this video today and i can't express how proud of and inspired i am by you. thank you for this. even though this is technically for old/past you, somehow it feels as if you're talking to me personally. i can relate to this alot and this really made me smile and feel better. and yesterday, you had a concert in my city. I'm only halfway through this video and I'm about to cry. Lindsey, you are such an inspiration to me. Last year in my dance class, I was very shy and was too nervous to extend my movements. This year, I'm much more confident in dance and my teacher asked me to join the dance team! I said yes, of course. :) Love you, Linds

Lindsey, you are so inspirational and amazing! Your advice about being happy and stuff and your messages have taken a big root in my life. You speak the truth when it comes to teen attitudes me included. I wish 13-14 year old me could have talked to you. She probably wouldn't have made some decisions she did make. Thanks for sharing this with us LindseyTime , I wish I had seen something like this when I was younger, knowing that everyone, even celebrities or famous hip hop violinists go through the same things as us when they were growing up. I've tried being a lot more confident since last year, and I've made some awesome friends because of it, so great advice!

This describes my life right now! i was (and still am) really nerdy and I made some nerdy friends and life is great. I used to think about how my hair looked or why my clothes didn't look as good as some of the popular girls, but now I don't care because I'm being me and that's all that matters. You have taught me how to love myself, Lindsey. Thank you for that! :D

I would like to see more of those videos. Share more of your wisdom, inspire more people to be who they are and accept their personality, motivate more people to do what they have ever wanted to do. You have the power to those things. I know there are a lot of motivational videos out there from sports men, from actors, etc. but you are the one who really gets in touch with people and who knows what to say to get them up.

Lindsey, Great advice! It's not easy dealing with Jr. High and High School stuff. The things that were so important back then seem so petty today. Do what makes us happy, don't take things so serious and walk down those hallways like you own the place!

big fan of yours, but the fact that it looks like you're sitting on a toilette gives the message a slight touch of comedy. That is why I keep smiling while listening (which is a good thing isn't it?) Contentwise I love what you're saying and for sure we all think too much about what others think of us. So, how you overcome your issues and how you live your life now is a big inspiration. So true. Talented violonist, great dancer, you're funny, can talk about what's important. Lindsey, you are unique. I was the same way! I would go back and tell myself, Don't worry what others are thinking about you! I knew a lot of people in HS, but i always had a very low self esteem. I would tell myself to not care about what others are thinking about me, and follow my heart and dreams!!

Wow, listening to this, I realize I actully have some of these problems. I'm 14 and just moved to a new state, and I'm pretty self conscious and shy so I don't make friends easily, but I'm gonna take these tips :) thank you lindsey!

Dear 15 year old me. Stop trying to save up for that car and use that money to buy Walmart stock...Yep I know there's not one anywhere near you...but one day there will be three in our little town...One day there will be a Walmart inside another Walmart...Just shut up and buy Walmart stock. Lastly, you aren't going to die in that road trip through Kansas but the car will be totaled and you'll get to see a tornado closeup.

I couldn't stop clapping and shaking my head during the whole concert! You made me burn with passion again! I really want to say thank you about it. Thank you for the warm thoughts. As you were talking to yourself I saw myself reflected in your words. One thing I would say to my younger self would be to try new things and take chances. Don't worry if you do not succeed but learn from the experience and apply the knowledge learned to other areas in your life.
