About The Death Adder Project:
www.christinazd...
This project is run by Christina N. Zdenek (PhD candidate) at The University of Queensland. The Project aims to increase our limited understanding of Death Adders via field and lab studies. In particular, we aim to be able to predict the presence of this extremely cryptic and highly venomous snake at the urban-bush interface so that human behaviour and management strategies can be adjusted accordingly to reduce the risk of snakebite.
The project’s study sites to date are Weipa (Cape York), Magnetic Island (QLD), and Avoid Island (near Mackay). We are hoping to expand the represented sites using DNA from museum specimens using the Atlas of Living Australia.
