Honestly I don't think the union was so strange, after all every bloodline that united were all Cappadocian bloodlines, apart from the Nagaraja but since they have no antediluvian I think they'd be easier to integrate than say a whole other established clan

@@MalkavDraconic Honestly it was the unrelenting hate that the remaining Cappadocians had for the Giovanni, and the Harbingers had for both the remaining Cappadocians and the Giovanni was one of the reasons that Clan Heceta was just a horrible idea based on previous lore. The Harbingers had sworn to see the Giovanni destroyed for robbing them of their revenge on Cappadocius, and the remaining Cappadocians for either being saved by Cappadocius at the Feast of Folly, or their descendants who are unworthy. The Giovanni spent centuries exterminating the last Cappadocians whereever they found them, and the Cappadocians would never forgive them for their diablerie of their clan primogentor. There is no way that these three clans/bloodlines would ever ally with each other.

Figures. I’ve never had a TTRPG group until now, but the only good VtM character is a Giovani-a winery owner who obtains diabetic blood through quasi-legal means and ferments it into “wine” vintages for vamps to drink.

Way back in the day of VtM revised edition, Clan Giovanni practiced the discipline of Necromancy. Their biggest enemy was the Harbingers of Skulls bloodline that often allied itself with the Sabbat, turnsout they were Capadocian who had managed to resurrect themselves.

This is why in my vampire game I'll never move to 5th edition V20 for life it doesn't make sense to me to have all these bloodlines mixed together because literally they all hate the Giovanni the cappadocians hate them for being hunted down throughout the years and literally obliterated and the big betrayal of the Giovanni clan to the cappadocians allso Augustus Diablorized the head of the cappadocian clan and down the line from his descendants to thares v5 doesn't make sense. Also the whole thing you're describing what the tremere did they're the ones that didn't hail from a single anti diluvian literally created themselves out of blood magic

Fun thing, they were described as the "most disfunctional family to ever bleed down the centuries" in the Old Wounds prewritten Chronicle. So yeah, the Hecata is very much an uneasy alliance of necessity type rather than a buddy-buddy scenario. Although the Hecata are generally united when it comes to dealing with external threats in terms of internal clan shit, it's still very tense and ununified.

Aaaah, Mage the Ascension. My favorite TTRPG book of all time. Never got to play it. When I was running games my players didnt dig it. I cant comprehend how that is possible.

I have played few many times. It is good, but magic is rules heavy. But world is really strange and mages can do a lot of things, but need to plan and prepare.

I was quite happy with the Hecata release (and not just because I could finally play my beautiful Cappadocians again) with the only oddity being the Nagaraja. However I just run my games saying that they used Cappadocian Blood instead of Setite Blood when the original Nagaraja Magi made themselves into Kindred. I also think the Necromancers got the better end of Oblivion in comparison to the Lasombra. Anyway loved the video! :)

I dropped the whole clan aspect and made it a full fledge sect. Similar lore in that Augustus Giovanni is either dead or missing, many Anziani were wiped out by a mysterious attack and the Giovanni found themselves under siege from without and betrayal from the minor families from within except in this version the Giovanni closes ranks and managed to hold out for years before approaching the Capuchin to negotiate a ceasefire due to the SI and all the other craziness going on. The Giovanni gave up some control for peace allowing the minor families more autonomy while bringing them back into the fold along with the Harbingers. Eventually the Najaraja and the Samedi approched the sect the join. Same result just less... stupid

Personally I tend to downplay heceta clan unity as a series of non aggression pacts with the clan name being a way to let everyone save face as a clan.

@@TheMapleTable thanks by allowing bloodline autonomy it allows for diversity with consistency for example I had the cappadocians and lamia join the camarilla whereas the Samedi have tight links with the anarchs and the harbingers remained Sabbat to allow every access to necromancer pc's

the 20th anniversary editions really cleaned up the game from a rules perspective. lore wise it made quite a few changes from previous versions.

I still can't get behind the 'family gathering' idea. The Cappadocians, Harbingers of Skulls, Nagaraja and Giovanni all hated each other's guts for centuries. And now it seems like they were just lumped together to simplify matters.

@@JohnnyOrc This is how I read it. Capuchin basically defeated the Giovanni, tricked them into killing their elders, and diluted their powers by navigating them into this alliance. This was a Cappadocian plot and an act of vengeance.

Yeah I'm with you the betrayal with the Giovanni clan did to the cappadocians does it make any sense Augustus diarize the head of their clan Cappadocia and they've been hunted down and Diablorized for generations and now they just wanna say everything's OK with me buddy buddy doesn't make sense and the rest of the bloodline doesn't make sense just like the lasombra joining the cameria and them turning the sabot and pretty much just crazy monsters and non playable but This is why I'll never play v5 it's shit v20 or v2R all day

There's actually a vampire named Enzo Giovanni who is of course a member of the Giovanni. Enzo Giovanni sat on the board of directors of Pentex before disappearing suddenly and then reappearing many years later looking like a harbinger of skulls aka a walking corpse but unmistakenly he is Enzo having the same exact voice and knowledge that only Enzo would have. Enzo will show up at different holdings and warn them of attacks by "shape-shifting beast" before leaving only to be seen when he appears at another site owned by Pentex to give another warning. The werewolves consider vampires tainted by the worm but in reality vampires couldn't of the worm or the werewolves superstitions as they would put it however Enzo actively serves the worm and as turned his back on his own clan and vampire society as a whole. Putting Enzo into a campaign for either werewolf or vampire The masquerade would give both werewolves and vampires common ground to target Pentex.

A little disappointed at the very start because I thought it was about to be filled with inaccuracies. The fact Samedi and Harbingers weren't mentioned until the near end was especially concerning since they're actually more important on the clan's hierarchy than the Nagaraja. In fact, barely mentioning these two specifically was so concerning that I actually left a dislike for about a minute and was getting ready to leave a comment on the inaccuracies I saw in the video. The way Harbingers and Samedi are mentioned in this video will likely leave more people confused then informed. While the Harbingers are Cappidocian off shoot, the Samedi may or may not be. Not only that, but the two actually had a very rich bloodline culture before the hecata was made. Your videos are great, but you could have done this so much better.
