Thanks Jerusalem Music Center for posting this handsome rendering of "Death and the Maiden". It is a solid, equilibrated, serious and technically impeccable version. The second movement is sad and melancholic without being overly romantic. Schubert at his very best. I wish the Jerusalem String Quartet success and I wish it was better known in western countries.

Magnifique interprétation de ce quatuor de Schubert : la jeune fille et la mort. Une interprétation que j'apprécie au même niveau que celle du quatuor Amadeus ! À la fois de l'énergie, de la violence, mais aussi une grande finesse, de la subtilité et une grande sensibilité. Félicitations ! Congratulations ! Et une excellente prise de son, ce qui n'est pas si fréquent...

Powerful, intensely committed music-making. The second movement was beautifully shaped and the finale's opening theme articulated by concise rhythmic playing. Thanks to the Jerusalem Music Center for making this fine performance available.
