Still the most underrated band to emerge from the Bay Area Thrash scene..... and the only one to cost me a week off work and several hundred dollars in chiropractic bills. Big fan growing up, heard they were doing a one off show from their tour with Anthrax and Testament (2012 for the relentless retribution album), they had a night off and headlined a local area thrash show at the Al Rosa (in Columbus OH). Been to literally 100s of concert, from Slayer to Bolt Thrower to Maiden and even DA themselves, way back in the early 90s. Anyhow they gave what must have been a 20 song set, for 2+ hours of straight insane moshing and headbanging, to the point I ended with a bulged disc in my neck. And no regrets. God Mark can work a crowd and Rob is one of the best guitarists in the genre. Two Horns up... way up!

I was in high school when i first heard death angel and I freaked out that they were 12 and 14 yrs old and playing really good music. They're one of the few bands that stuck to there guns and made it. The fact that they didn't sell out is why they are still around.

They sure are great! Around "Act 3" is when they got into their musical maturity, if still being late teen early-20 some's. The cool thing was outside the music hall, we got to meet Andy Galeon and Gus and Dennis Pepa. ALL were as nice as could be, and walked around the pre-show music hall like they were part of the crowd. I actually met Gus when he was next door at the Chinese food place getting some stuff, and he walked right alongside me on the way out and we talked for about 5 minutes.

Impossible! Death Angel's last official show was April 30th, 1991. They only played a handful of shows that year, due to Andy Galeon's horrific injuries in a bus crash in September of '90. Mark, quit the band, and was for all intents and purposes a recluse, until he, Rob and Andy formed 3/4's of the band Swarm in the late 90's. If you saw them in the 90's in England, it would have been in early June of '90.

Their song "I'M BORED" from their first album has stuck with me thru my life. I listen to it every-so-often when I get REALLY bored at work. That's how I found this song and fell in love with Death Angel all over again! I didn't even know they were still putting out music! I agree with several there who call them the New Metallica! Originally they are all Filipino Americans, now only Ted and Rob are the only full blooded Filipinos while Mark is 50% Filipino... just spent time with them at the Manila Airport, During rehearsal and saw their concert in Quezon City, Philippines last April 30, 2011. Also Kirk Hammett of Metallica is half Filipino, his mom is from Cebu City.

Actually, their first demo came out in 1983, called "Heavy Metal Insanity". It was a four track demo: No Time For Love, The Hunted, The Intruder, and Barren Lands. Their style was more reminiscent of something like Ozzy, Iron Maiden or Tygers of Pan Tang. Mark was not in the band then, as the lead vocals were mainly done by Dennis and Rob.

Kinda...sorta. Mark isn't a founding member, but he did join the band in November of '84 (three years before the bands first album came out), playing his first show at The Stone in San Francisco, opening for Megadeth. Even though I like Will and Damien quite a bit, I would never say never as it pertains to Andy being back in the band one day down the road. Even though Andy wasn't candid about why he left the band, but that there was a communication break down, especially after Dennis left.

They had a pretty big following even before Kirk Hammett produced their "Kill As One" demo in '85. Heck, Death Angel opened up for the first Megadeth show ever (which included Kerry King on guitar) at "The Keystone" in Berkeley, CA in March of '84. It certainly didn't hurt having Kirk in their corner, but these guys had opened for the likes of W.A.S.P., Mercyful Fate, Slayer, Exodus, Armored Saint and Metallica before the "Kill As One" demo came out.

All those trees in the Garden are meanty to live on. Didn't seem like the newer hybrids which were a combination of 2 or more which already existed making an entire new Tree and fruit to with it. There are things which are still around, they just tend to reveal themselves to which they choose, and songs and poems of how they died long ago will not fool them into shining any light to what speaks this way about them...
