Death angel has been around since the early 80s, and yes they are the pioneers of thrash metal,the likes of exodus, heathen, blind illusion, testament, mordred, posssessed, betrayal, violence, laughing dead, mercenary sf ,, assassin, skinlab, defiance ulysses siren, wrecking machine and the list goes on. the bay area Capitol of thrash metal,.they opened new doors for young players, and the djent genre ..veterans of the bay area thrash metal scene..

Theenragedone They have different technicalities, just try to do James job for a week haha, Rob is a master on the bass, Kirk has to keep up with James so no wonder some of his solos sound "blah" and Lars just.... meh :) And aggression was never a problem in the 80's and in St.Anger, though they kinda used the anger differently in St.Anger...

Kevin McDonald Nothing you have said disproves my statement. Metallica have never had the technicality, and and aggression Death Angel do. Rob is a great bass player but I honestly dont feel Rob has ever fit in Metallica. Kirk is an ok lead player, and Metallica haven't written a good thrash record in 26 years. No I dont consider the black album to be a thrash record. Death Angel, , Testament, Overkill, and Exodus all continue to release great thrash. Metallica released the utter garbage that was Saint Anger, and the soulless rehash that was Death Magnetic.

Theenragedone You are 100% correct. Not to mention, Lars is no technician on the drums. He is basic at best, does not know his rudiments (nor does he use them), and has a big mouth for a little man. I guess he is all Metallica ever really needed. Besides James, past bassists Cliff and Jason were Metallica's real talent.
