28:57 no you're not the only one with this feeling, and honestly can't blame you. But that being said, i didn't feel like they were being condescending about this episode in the casts at all. Just that they felt it's time has passed a long time ago, which is fair. Both these franchises have been dormant for a long time. The most "negative" i ever got from them and this match up was when they showed relief that they finally reached a conclusion, because apparently they had a hard time determining the winner. I do feel that Liam went a bit too hard into the 2010's aspect of the script. The script being trashed was mostly meant to be a nod to the fact they dropped the idea to do the match up until it won the champions poll, or at least that's how i choose to interpret it. As for Boomstick calling it bad and giving it "the Cole shoulder", can you really blame him? He had to hear someone say "awesomesauce". I would be pissed off too

14:34 - I was surprised too and would’ve counted it as non-standard, but then remembered the whole plot of 2 was to get it and he had it until the ending, so if he didn’t sacrifice himself, it would’ve stayed as his equipment (which is when I knew Cole won, because he loses the energy limit and it buffed him enough to bring down The Beast in little time.) 27:47 - It was definitely a weird prelude and I understand your thoughts, but I don’t think it was intentional (I also like both and the match up, so I can understand feeling down, but then I watched the fight multiple times and it overwhelmed that feeling for me.)

And it's not like he really even needed it. Based on the plot of the games and character statements the power boost from the RFI was icing on the cake but the main plus was that it interfered with the Beast's insane regeneration. According to Kessler, he was strong enough to defeat the beast but had chosen to flee in order to protect his family. It eventually backfired and by the time he had a reason to stand and fight he was just too old. So he basically came back to set Cole up for the slam dunk. Considering that Kessler's powers awakened naturally and he didn't have access to as much neural energy or blast shards you can argue that Cole at the beginning of inFamous 2 was stronger than prime Kessler. He did a lot of damage to the beast but couldn't get through the regeneration at that point.

I do, however, remember a Reddit thread where someone was asking others to watch it a ton so they get the message that they have to do these kinds of match ups more often.
