For those wondering why he didnt shoot him when he had the chance? Well the state that he was in was just indicating that the regeneration was about to begin, not the actual start of his regeneration, hence why Rick said "Hurry up." as in "Hurry up and start regenerating so that I can kill you." which really just gave the doctor the chance to hack the weapons before starting it.

To add onto that, you can see him shoot the doctor twice, in both places where his hearts should be. If he knew about that, he would know about the regeneration, so that's why he doesn't kill him there and then. That's a neat reference to the fact that Rick references Doctor Who in an episode. For the animation they made Rick know about his wincons for dramatic effect, but in one of the black boxes at the end it mentions that it's unknown if he does know about those weaknesses or not

Doctor Who fact: The assassination of Kennedy nearly got doctor who cancelled. The news mostly broke in Britain the next day, meaning parents had the news on instead of the first episode of Doctor Who. It would've been cancelled because of this but, luckily, episode one was shown again, back to back with episode 2, a week later. That one decision saved the show from ending after just 4 episodes.

The Doctor isn't _consciously_ aware of the future (unless he's been there before in the tardis and heard about the past he's now living through), but he has a subconscious "no, that's not going to work out" sense when forming plans. And he can do the RPG character "pause the world and think about my next move for 30 minutes" thing at any time, which comes across as hyper-fast calculation but has been shown from his point of view on multiple occasions, either as walking around the area and looking at things from various angles (the eleventh hour), or imagining he's back in the tardis arguing with himself (heaven sent).

I've heard this next match will be a modern remake of the fight, and Ben Singer posted a tweet saying that they'll be compositing Dragon Ball Heroes for Goku and Infinite Frontier for Superman. Note: I would mention that both GVS 1 & 2 were updated on the Death Battle Channel in both titles and description saying they were outdated and inaccurate. So, despite what they said back then, Ben Singer is open on doing a Re-analysis on the matchup, hopefully to fix the missteps they had in both of their previous episodes they did with these too.

The Doctor does what they do best, outsmarted the enemy, and made them destroy themselves. Rick essentially wiped himself from existence because of his arrogance, and knowing how Rick's gun worked, they used it against him.

Happy Thanksgiving and Eevee Day to Everyone and At First I didn’t know who would’ve Won, they’re both seemingly Unstoppable but I remember that while Rick is a Problem Solver with a Random Arsenal that made him into a Advanced Super Human, The Doctor is a Literal British Time God with a Knowledge beyond Anything Rick could do not to mention Rick Hates Time Travel, 9 out of 10, a Great Death Battle with Clean Animation and Funny Rick and Morty Energy plus a Screaming Sun, next Death Battle is Another Goku vs Superman One that I’m hoping it’s the Last One, I knew it was Coming but I was Hoping they didn’t although it’s fitting as it’s the 10th Anniversary of the Original Fight but they will have to Add Everything these 2 Characters have done.

So the actual connection between Rick and the doctor beyond the obvious is that the 1st doctor was an irate grandad who original had built his machine and was going on adventures with his granddaughter. Ironically the sorta ideologies of the two show through in that Rick is mostly unchanged as a person while the doctor is ever changing and has grown so far from when he started. Also this fight was as one sided as Flash Vs quicksilver. 60 years is a long time for feats and they basically lowballed the Doctor by not only making Rick fight 10 but also not mentioning anything from the expanded universe. The doctor canonically can fly, has psychic powers and has fought things so incomprehensible they could never be visualized so we have to use words.

One thing that doesn't make sense in this is Morty still being alive in the end. If we are going by how the Doctor's D-Mat Ray completely rases a person's existence entirely, if Rick was erased from all existence and never existed, then that meant he never fathered Beth, which meant that Morty would never had been born.

Edit: I forgot to say, this DB was awesome. I really love it when shows like this try to honor the pacifism of a character even if they have to kill an opponent, and The Doctor tricking Rick into shooting himself was one of my favorite was I’ve seen a show do this. Original: For reference, although Super Saiyan God and Blue existed when GvS 2 came out, the current versions of those forms didn’t. They were intriduced in 2 movies, which were later rewritten when Dragon Ball Super came out, but at the time they had pretty much not displayed any feats of strength, so effectively when GvS2 came out Goku was just known to be vaguely stronger than when GvS1 came out, but now they can actually put a number to it. Though DB’s already told us that number in every other Dragon Ball character’s analysis in the past 5 years, so I wish they could’ve at least given one of these 2 a different opponent.

Eh, it was more that the 12th Doctor was stuck in a time loop so that while he’d keep dying and things get reset till he eventually broke out of the loop, the progression of time itself was still in effect. So while the Doctor physically was still only around 2 thousand years old at the time when he finally escaped, mentally however due to his Galifreyan biology and enhanced time senses, he was aware of just how much time was actually passing (4 & a half billion years).

I can tell you, Goku had his first taste of Ultra Instinct 5.5 years ago. I watched the episode with my girlfriend in our first year of our relationship, and that aired during her first visit so i can pinpoint an approximate date. Around St. Patrick's Day 5 years ago. He's since mastered that transformation. This new battle will be composite Goku (all of current Dragon Ball Super as well as his accomplishments in Dragon Ball Heroes). Superman will also be taken from the new mainline Infinite Journey series, i believe it's called. I also believe they are not giving Superman his infinity feats this time. Goku has a legitimate chance here. I still think Superman has the win, though.

So the next Goku and Superman are from Dragon Ball Heroes and Infinite Frontiers, making them their composite bests. But this also means Superman'll have that infinity-breaking speed from Pre-Crisis - and remember what happened to the two Dragon Ball characters who fought opponents that had limitless speed (one of them also from Heroes). Also, Superman in general is kinda like Popeye and Sun Wukong - their opponents may be more disciplined fighters, but these three have a lot of esoteric abilities that can cheat around all that.
