Maybe this is how Fran ended up on the Sheffield's door…

It may be due to her roles in Noelle and the Airplane flicks, but I would never have guessed Julie Hagerty would be a difficult actress to work with. She always seemed really sweet to me.

I guess she and Fran just did not get along. But this show flopped so quickly that even that Bette Midler sitcom lasted longer on the same network!

Fran Drescher is queen! I love the nanny so much! It was my favorite live-action 90s sitcom as a kid. She’s truly one of a kind actress also.

CBS: Let’s do something that’ll put us on top! Proceeds to have their worst year in recent history.
@Attmay4 ай бұрын
Ironically, my mom was still watching their soaps, and I was still watching their cartoons. Their primetime schedule was mostly a joke. Sitcoms were where they had the most trouble. They only kept *Murphy Brown* on to spite Dan Quayle and because Lily Tomlin must’ve needed the money, *Designing Women* never replaced Delta Burke and Jean Smart, and none of Bob Newhart’s 90s shows looked like they could match his earlier ones. They actually tried to give sitcoms to Faye Dunaway and David Morse! Maybe they should’ve tried giving one to Lesley Ann Warren to see if it would run longer than the one Julie Andrews made on ABC. Maybe Lesley Ann would’ve been a better fit for this show if she were younger. She’s about 10 years Julie Hagerty’s senior and those had aged out of her part by then.

To think CBS went through so many versions of the show after Haggerty left and didn’t try any of them.

Okay so totally wrong Nielsen ratings info in this video. Princesses did NOT rank last during it's premiere episode, it got a 8.5 household rating, 16% share and 11 million viewers, ranking it 74 out of 96. So not even in the bottom five. Eps 01 8.5 household rating, 16% share, 11 million viewers, rank 74 out of 96 Eps 02 7.6 household rating, 15% share, 10.1 million viewers, rank 75 out of 95 Eps 03 5.6 household rating, 11% share, 7 million viewers, rank 85 out of 87 Eps 04 5.4 household rating, 10% share, 7.3 million viewers, rank 86 out of 90 Eps 05 5.0 household share, 9% share, 6.5 million viewers , rank 85 out of 89

Either way, it was a dud, which, based on the casting, should have been a success. That proves that casting alone is not enough to make a TV show successful.

I wish you had done a bit more research, and actually found out the ratings numbers. I guarantee you that their last place ratings in 1991, are higher than the first place ratings in 2024 in that same exact timeslot. In the early 90's before Seinfeld became a big hit, they wanted to cancel it, because it was *only* getting 17 million viewers a week. 17 million viewers. And that was considered a poorly performing show. If you had a show today get 17 million viewers, the lead actor would be getting paid $5 million an episode, because it would be the highest rated show in the world. The only reason they didn't cancel Seinfeld, was literally because they were scared that another network was gonna get him to host a late-night talk show, and they didn't want competition. Obviously, the Seinfeld ratings picked up, and it became the biggest sitcom of all time. But they were considering cancelling it based on 17 million viewers.

I can tell he did a lot of research. He just didn’t share the actual numbers. Of course the ratings are comparable with 24, but the expectations aren’t. Don’t forget that the main reason this show got cancelled was because of the actress leaving and the sinking reputation. I wish you did a bit more research before leaving this comment.
@billbryant62276 ай бұрын
TV numbers now and 2024 aren’t comparable. And of course they tried to save Seinfeld. That one didn’t have a damaged reputation and a quitting actress. Think friend think.
@I_WANT_MY_SLAW6 ай бұрын
@@Zarpalarpathey were last place in the rating. Charlie Sheen crashed his car, got aids, went on drug fueled benders, trashed his hotel room, and the ratings for Two and a Half Men skyrocketed. The only reason Charlie got fired, wasn't for any of that debauchery, but because he mentioned that his boss is Jewish. That show stayed on the air for years without Charlie Sheen.
@I_WANT_MY_SLAW6 ай бұрын
@@billbryant6227Seinfeld had low ratings. But they didn't want him becoming a free agent, so they renewed hid show. But his show was failing with 27 million viewers. That would be the munger one show in 2024. The top rated shows get 5 million viewers. 5 million is considered a big hit. That's the number one show. My how the mighty have fallen.
@Zarpalarpa6 ай бұрын
@@I_WANT_MY_SLAW Keep in mind, CBS was in a very bad spot during this time like the video says. They couldn’t afford another failure. Besides, unlike those shows you mentioned, the Princesses brand was poisonous. Nobody wanted to give it a shot. CBS even tried to salvage it remember? They just didn’t see it as jumping though all those hoops to save a failure.
