To this day still god tier sample library

I contacted Toontrack support service because it seemed to me that the "Kick in" and "Kick out" microphones in the Darkness library were not correctly listed on the site. The information on the site has not been changed in a year. Then I contacted Tue Madsen. He confirmed my guesses. But Toontrack still doesn't want to change anything. So for those who have this library: "Kick out" is actually 602 in the hole. "Kick in" is 901 inside on a pillow at the bottom of the kick drum. Ludwig alternative "kick out" is Electrovoice RE20. I hope the information will be useful.

What I really like is how they sampled lots of different hit this time. So for someone who do a lot of blast beats it tremendously helped.

It's a huge reality...the biggest studios in NY/LA are all gone where a lot of great rock and metal records were done..just the way it is

Danny Danymal Lee Yeah I know the big studios are disappearing, but in this case it was in his house so it was basically a high performing project studio. I'm interested to see what he does for his new studio. I'm building a studio right now and am going to do the walls of my live room in blue tile in honor of Ant Farm studios and try to get some of his sound in my mixes

Mark Lewis did a great job with the Death part. Damn, the Sonor kit sounds AMAZING ! Easily recognizable from the others, very punchy and ambient. The Sonor 14*6 Artist Series Cast Bronze... Jesus ! This has to be the best (or top 3 best snares with the Gretsch Phosphorous Bronze and the Gretsch Bell Brass) I heard in my life ! Its sampling in the expansion is perfection. I could use some high tuning on this one :D Having tremendous fun right now and definitely using this on my projects ! Thank you Mark and Toontrack ! P.S : We need the Danny Carey Sonor 14*8 Artist Series Cast Bronze snare ASAP with his SQ2 kit :D Please, really.

And, I have to admit that Tue did an AWESOME job too. I am a huge fan of The Sensitone snares series from Pearl and this Steel Snare is hands down, the best snare of the D&D expansion hands down, at least for me. The Pearl kit is huge and perfect for me. Still working and learning with this pack.

This is THE SDX to get. Even if you just have the SD3 core kit and this SDX, you are set. I would say the Death drums are great and energetic, recorded aggressively. However, there is something about the nuanced recording in the Darkness kits and presets. You really can use the Darkness kits for just about anything. That slapback from the pool walls, instead of saturating the performance out of control with echoes, provides that slight edge that makes the drums stand out in a mix. Throw the grrooves from other SDXs nd EZXs on the Darkness kits, and they gain a new life. Do not rush into dropping these into a mix immediately, listen for a bit just to the drums and appreciate the quality. It has some of the best dry kits, too. Tip: put them on an NVME drive, not just a SATA speed SSD.

I really wish we could buy just this SDX and get the SD3 engine. I personally don't need the core library, but I would love to have this one
@marcv22905 жыл бұрын
in generell i think this is a great idea...i have sd3 and of course its core libary...but i can see that not everyone wants it coz they have lots of options (in other words...lots of sdx ;)) then they could sell sd3 for 199 euro and people who are interesstet in their sd3 libary could byu it seperatly as an sdx.
@jacobsmith18775 жыл бұрын
marc v Exactly. I would rather have Rock Foundry and Death and Darkness; nothing in the core library really interests me and the fact that I have to pay hundreds of dollars for hundreds of gigabytes of samples I don't want is exactly why I don't have SD3 or access to this library.
@marcv22905 жыл бұрын
@@jacobsmith1877 depends on what music you do or how you wanna let ur music sound but even if you "only" would do metal/trash this core libary is great....i also have rock foundry and its one of their best sdx...this and the new one is a huge pakage :)) and the sd3 software has a great interface and for the price stunning within bulit effects...by far the best drumsoftware...and their are alot good or nice ones outthere
@jacobsmith18775 жыл бұрын
marc v yeah I mostly do metal and rock so those are the sounds I gravitate towards. I'm a big fan of Bob Rock and Tue Madsen's drum tones so that's why I want those packs specifically
@marcv22905 жыл бұрын
@@jacobsmith1877 well then i would one time spend a bit more but then you have a giant pakage...i remeber that when you buy sd3 and bob rock foundry its a bit cheaper and after that this one here und then you will have EVERYTHING for the next couple years...no one needs 15 sdx...:)))

Is it necessary to have the complete installation, all room microphones and others? or with the basic installation is enough 38 gb approx? My hard drive is full :( Thanks in advance!!!
@toontrack5 жыл бұрын
Hi, You do not need anything more than the Basic install. Although, having all the mics provide great options for your mix and you do get a whole other sense for the room you're in. So if you have the HD space or can get an external drive we'd recommend you at least try them out.
