It is a great book and the game is fun to play also.

@@solitaryrpg I am watching all of your and Geek Gamers solo-play vids but have yet to wrap my head around how I could do it :) it's hard for me. I've been playing rpgs since -81 but never alone. I think I need _alot_ of random tables and story dice f.ex.

@@gorankavision Thank You for watching the videos and yes playing solo is a bit different. I started playing in the early 80's but around 83 or 84 and I also played with my friends. I just got into solo a few years ago and I started the channel because I put a lot of effort with creating my games and wanted to share what I was doing with others. I got caught up in that trap of feeling I needed a lot of tables and things to play a solo game. Over time I have realized all I really need is to sit down at the table and start rolling some dice. I feel Geek Gamer put it best in her book. Everything is playing so if you are just creating a character or reading some rules that is all gaming. It is more about spending time with a hobby that you enjoy even when your friends are not around. My first solo game was Four Against Darkness and it really opened my eyes on how I can have fun playing solo. Then my passion grew and I started exploring other games and tools learning how to create adventures on my own. When you get DiS create a character and just start exploring the Iron Ring. Use an oracle that you like and just ask yourself some questions along the way. Write down some notes and just enjoy the game. As time goes one you will get more comfortable with this concept and it will feel natural. Then you can start a channel and share your thoughts and gaming style with others.

Did play The Wretched with Those Dark Places a few times and loved it, specially with the jenga tower representing the integrity of your spaceship... when it shakes you really feel it...

I can see how the jenga tower adds some tension to the game. Even if it falls by accident game over.

Hey, just caught your video! I'm the creator of solo orbits, and I've since created a print friendly version I'd gladly get you hooked up with! Exalted Funeral printed it in the wrong size (it was meant to be the same size as dark fort!) But we will be fixing this later under rivethead games!

Okay.... sold, sold and sold. Sadly The Wretched was out of stock at exaltedfuneral, but overseas shipping wasn't too bad and I was able to get the pdf and soundtrack immediately

I order my copy of The Wretched from the author he was the only source I could find for physical copies. Shipping from the UK was not bad to the US. I have been messing around with the game and it is a lot of fun.

Have more solo modules been released for Death in Space since you made this video?
@solitaryrpg18 күн бұрын
Not for Death in Space however there is one for Mothership that you might be able to convert. It is called Thousand Empty Light. It seems that not much had been released for Death in Space.

@@solitaryrpg I’m interested in solo play and can’t decide between Death in Space and Mothership, which do you recommend considering the amount of available content? Also, I’d like to add a journaling element to this also, do you know of a system that might be complementary to Mothership or Death in Space?
@solitaryrpg17 күн бұрын
@@momosgarage Mothership is a horror game and needs that element of surprise. It does have the solo adventure published however once you play it you are done. Death in space is what ever you want it to be and is a lot easier to solo. There is not a lot of material out for it so you will need to create your own adventure. You might want to look at Hostile. It has solo rules and a lot of supporting material. I have not played it but many people have talked highly about it. If you want to just jump in with a journaling game at a low cost look at Wretched. This is a journaling game and is prompted driven. It uses Jenga blocks to build tension. This does make it hard to stop and start playing. It is designed to sit down and play in an evening. I hope this helps. Mike

@@solitaryrpg thanks for the tips, I really appreciate you sharing the research you’ve done already Last, do you have any experience with Kill, Sample, Process published by Forbidden Psalm? Which is auto based off the Solo Mork Borg rules?
