Every young actor that I have seen play Tadzio, has been unique & special in their own way, but they just can't compare to Bjorn Anderson. At the time, Bjorn was indeed a teenaged boy, who was blessed (or maybe even cursed) by God to wear a woman's face. Plain & simple.

The challenge with the opera version is finding a dancer that would also match Mann's description of Tadzio, so all the versions made do with a relatively pretty face that would fit the role... With Bjorn Andressen it was easier because he was already an actor, not to mention that Visconti cast him brilliantly
