I was Unholy DK while WotLK was current the first time and got to do the Shadowmourne quest. Even before Shadowmourne and Deathbringers Will, I was top DPS in my guild and like 4th on my server... Good ol times. I remember the Unholy vs Frost and Frost slightly coming out ahead in theory but my Unholy groove was so deep already...I even remember my rotation and doing the whole **spin 180, Gargoyle, spin 180**

I say if you havent yet, give blood dps a try. It is literally the last chance you will ever get to try it. Once cata comes it will be purely tank spec. It is fun to play. Big crits with big chad 2 hander.

Question for Frost DK, since strength is the most important stat, why armor penetration gems are the bis gems over than strength ones?

I don't know if anyone answered, but frost has a very high proportion of physical damage compared to unholy - obliterate and your melee swings, along with blood caked blade are all physical and amplified by arpen, so it's worth it to try and go for the hard cap (1400 rating) which is why you gem it instead of str. Str will improve all components in a balanced way, but arp only improves the physical components.

my frost spec sims 1.2k higher, 9.5k dps as unholy, 10.7k dps as frost. but i always hear i should be unholy until i get better gear. any explanation for this?

Tier 10 it's only to single target fights : Lord Marrowgar, Deathbringer, Festergut, Rotface, etc... Tier 9 for multiple target fights

You wouldn't prio tier based off of set bonuses this phase. Everyone gets their set bonuses from badges. So it'd just be prio'd over stat scaling

No, they have simmed the most options, arp is not good for scourge strike cause it deals shadow damage already and ignores armor, thats why its such a low upgrade for UH

Why do frost dks not go for the expertise rating to get the classic 26 rating? I am a bit confused. When I add up the hit ratings, the value seems quite high, why are we gemming full hit in yellow?

As dw, hit will always be a favored stat because it indirectly increases sooo much other aspects of the build. Up front yes, more hit rating=more melee hits=more damage. However, more melee hits landing also means more KM procs meaning higher FS crit %. More melee hits also means more necrosis damage and more Blood-caked Blade damage. Hopefully this makes sense.

@@Chimmy_36 Tbh you unholy frenzy yourself anyway so you kinda need to use Dstrike to stay alive and only ever 2nd set of runes do u even get to use deathstrike, hell when i had unholy frenzy up at the same time as Penetrating cold and in p3 i actually had to use 2x Death runes on another Dstrike out of fear for my life :D , so its not like your perma full hp, i know there was a lot of talk about frost sub-spec and using obliterate instead for that boss but most people seem to have just not bothered with that myself included and its never been an issue in any of my runs , just "forget" to swap one pull and see how it goes :^)

It's situational. Both are very strong, but if you find yourself in a cleave-heavy/target swap fight, WFS can be stronger than comet.

AotD scale very well with haste. So on fights you can use AotD, Comet is better. However for fight where you can't snapshot AotD with Comet's WFS is better. That's at least to my sims.

Keep your diseases up and spam scourge strike. Use blood strike for desolation and blood runes. Not sure if blood boil should be used or not. Can use blood tap for ghoul frenzy.
