i love in wotlk that i can specc almost however i want, as long as i can get to the talents i need with the available skill points. it gives so much freedom in how i play my character. i had a priest in wrath, but back then i didn't know what i was doing until i started my journey as a death knight in cata. now back in wrath, with addons, keybinds and game knowledge, it's so much fun.

I loved DKs and Palas in wrath Both were absolute powerhouses and busted in their own right. They are polar opposites (Light & Dark) And they could pretty much take on multiple enemy players and still mostly come out on top. And if they fought each other it would always be an extremely close match.

I'm happy about us not needing to have a level 55 character to be able to start a death knight. For mex this means I can start a death knight immediately upon release and go solo gold farming in vanilla dungeons to gsar upy other characters. It'll basically be a cash cow for me. I'm also looking forward to doing some off tanking in Outland here and there.

Also, for Wrath Classic I'll just go unholy as main, that's what I was the entire retail Wrath expansion......until 4.0 hit then switched to frost and was frost in retail ever since lol

well when they first came out all 3 spec's were very good at tanking...my fav was unholy being able to just chain pull groups in runs nearly constant. would clear out instances extremely quickly but the nerfed version that we will see at the start whenever they release it this time around isn't quite as fun but yet still fun though really.

One overlooked ability DKs had was corpse explode. I don't think it was necessarily great for arena, but it sure was fun in BGs. I had a macro setup so my ghoul would gnaw the enemy to stun them, and then cast corpse explode on the ghoul which did like half of most players health. The damage it did was absurd. Corpse explode + throw in a few hits yourself and most players would have a significant amount of health lost in a second.

Actually, the general philosophy for Death Knights in WotLK was that any spec could either Tank or DPS. Back in the day, I was an Unholy tank. Assuming Wrath Classic is released next year, I plan on being Unholy or Frost tank.

I remember how much more powerful DKs were in 3.0 and 3.1. I was so mad when they nerfed DKs so many times especially as tanks. Frost DK tanks were just so godly and unstoppable early on. Hardly ever taking damage and HUUGGEEE threat

I do remember when it was impossible for resto druids to heal because DK’s plague strike would dispel all the spells. Also the unholy blight was so insane with how it would hit rogues from far and the insane AOE dps from it

I tanked lich king on a blood dk when it was new. ridiculously overpowered tank. preeety broken not long after they came out.. lol NE was the best tank for that. extra dodge was insane 🤣

Best tanks by far thanks to ardent defender, great healer as well. Ret is the weakest melee dps in ICC unfortunately. You can get lucky with teir set procs for divine storm but paladins are not as strong dps as people seem to remember

@@Bob-mo4no BDK do very well on a few boss fights requires insane IT spam because other debuff on the raid OR on very heavy Tank Magic damage. But you are right that Prot Paladins are best boss tank by a country mile on 90% of everything else Bears get the last 5% where slow super hard physical hitting behemoth Bose's.

because bryntol is 3.4 speed weapon and it has low weapon strike dmg warrior is weapon damage class mortal strike 100% weapon dmg overpower 100% weapon dmg he wants the slowest wep 3.6 speed, on DK scourge strike is only i think 84% physical weapon dmg and blood strike 46% (dont remember exacly now) but most dmg from unholy is shadow dmg thats why bryntol is weapon for DK also it can proc from blood caked strike talent and dk has higher haste so he can proc bryntol way more

unholy....more versitility , insane AOE, really good single target...and the Ebon Plaguebringer talent is awesome dps boost for the casters in your group. If your able to get shadowmourne thats icing on the cake

Bryntroll drops off the first boss in ICC; Shadowmourne is going to be given to streamers/guild leaders etc. which makes it MUCH harder to come by. But hey if you can get it good for you.

I'm so sick of this myth that Blood was always intended to be the tank spec. It wasn't. they made that change in Cataclysm and I think it was a change for the worse. Blood in Wrath was a DPS/PvP Spec. the self healing was for PvP NOT tanking. Unholy was the intended raid DPS spec and Frost the intended Tank spec.

It's not a myth, you're right. It was frost, but blood proved to have better tanking talents after patch 3.3.5. Even frost presence is the tanking presence. This shows blizzards intent, but they changed it.
