When this young man was alive in the 90's the legendary status of Death was already assured. In a time where we had no internet, the lack of footage and recordings of quality from Chuck and company gave an obscurity to the band, and with those records in hand everybody wanted to see the and listen how this music was performed. After his tragic passing, this gig and tour were the only chances to have a visual and good audio quality performance of his mastery. Sadly we have way less from previous incanations.

I had a VHS tape with a compilation of bands who played at Dynamo that year, and it had this version of Spirit Crusher. That was the part I've watched thousands of times. This sound was so fresh, so innovative to me, never heard something so progressive but so raw and aggressive at the same time. If I remembered corectly Chuck planned Symbolic as Death's last album, but label had a contract for another album, so Chuck did The Sound Of Perseverance (a lot of stuff on record were from his another band 'Control Denied'). So yeah, we probably wouldn't got more Death albums, but instead we could have a lot of new Control Denied albums or something completely different from Chuck, because he was a big fan of classic heavy metal like Dio, Judas Prest, Motorhead, etc, so we could even get a heavy metal album from almighty Chuck, but unfortunately we never will. 😢

Thanks for posting this! The Death discography can go toe-to-toe with any band. 7 GREAT albums that somehow kept getting better. I would easily put them in my top 5 most important metal bands along with Sabbath, Priest, Slayer, and Metallica. But when I think about it, none of those bands had a 7 album run as good as Death. They all dropped off around album 5, where Death just kept getting better.
