When you think about it, Saint Germain became Dracula this season. Everything they did was because they lost the woman they loved. Dracula was committing mass genocide so someone would kill him and be with his wife back in hell and St. Germain was causing massive deaths so that he could find the woman he loved.

I'm probably reading too much into this but the Netflix adaptation of Castlevania seems to have the overarching theme of vicious cycles and trying to break free from them. *Dracula wanted to commit genocide after suffering a major tragedy in his life yet other characters like Camilla and Saint Germain that were critical of Vlad ironically repeated he's mistakes (Camilla going mad after being unable to let her past go and Saint Germain attempting mass murder for his love). *Trevor and Sypha were stuck endlessly fighting back to back battles (Essentially getting trapped in the stories and problems of others) until they put a stop to it and decided to help on they own terms. *Alucard is caught in a chain of depression. First he lost his mom, then he contributed to the murder of his dad, then he had his trust shattered by Sumi/Taka and now Saint Germain is trying to sacrifice the villagers that Alucard promised Greta to protect... :/ (Essentially forcing him to mentally/emotionally mature as well as accept the good, the bad and the ugly in the world). *Hector got tricked three times; first by Dracula (Who didn't tell Hector he was planning genocide), second by Camilla (Who manipulated Hector into betraying Dracula) and once more by Lenore (Who used her "assets" to force Hector into servitude via a cursed slave ring). Thankfully Hector wisen up eventually (With some help from Isaac). *Isaac was initially going to complete Dracula's plan for human genocide however thanks to his exchanges with the blind merchant, the captain and a fellow practitioner of the dark arts, he realized he could be his own person with his own story to tell and on some level he began to realize Dracula saved him not to complete his revenge but to simply live. Isaac even became aware of the cycle and thus tries to break it (Such as forgiving Hector, treating his night-creatures as human and more). Yup I definitely read too much into this... ;P

Not a fan of the Alucard slander this episode. The man out were trying to defend a village of none combatants from an army of night creatures and warrior vampires out of the kindness of his own heart, despite getting backstabbed by two people he trusted and took in a month ago and they be acting like it's his fault, for what? For not knowing the guy he knows nothing about from a village he knows nothing about was some insane simp alchemist hell-bent on sacrificing the whole village specifically needed his childhood bedroom/patricide location to do a thing he knows nothing about, like what is he supposed to do defend the villagers from the corral of a village they were from with broken walls not even as thick or tough as his front door or something?

Looks like Dragan has been gathering up the shattered remains of Dracula's former army, small groups and warbands scattered across Wallachia, wrangling night creatures into the horde to serve as chaff. 2:47 I think these are from the Russian and German vampire generals that were in Dracula's court, seeing as two of them look like they're wearing Slavic style armour and the one behind them looks like a typical western soldier of the period. 2:49 These two look like they're a remnant of Dracula's personal battalion. 2:53 These two seem like members of Godbrand's crew.

The night creatures were attacking the villagers anyway. Given enough time they would of killed them all. Given the information Alucard had on hand taking the villagers to his castle was the most logical choice, given that it was the safest place for them. There was no way for him to know they had such larger beasts or that this was a plot to resurrect his parents.

I'm not sure Zamfir fully understood what she was guarding. They had gathered a bunch of magical artifacts from the castle and left them lying about or wearing them as good luck charms. That came back to bite them. Its possible that she understood the mirror was magic, it is floating around, but didn't know how important it was. Maybe the royals kept it behind their thrones originally.
