The only time I thought something was wrong with Varney was in the next episode he jumps over the running stream of holy water and that's something vampires just can't do. Carmilla even made a big deal about it in an earlier season.

With Ratko giving Varney the vibe check, he says he's a soldier, and with what he does, he seems to focus more on the psychological side of warfare, mostly through terror and fear, destabilizing the populace and making them easier to defeat, with a bit of vampire ruthlessness thrown in. As for the weird Norwegian vampire hunter's weapon, that helps explain how a crucifix works for Castlevania vampires.

I think Ratko knew something was up with Varney because he was the only vampire lord that was so committed to Dracula's plan of wiping out humanity and not just having fun with all the killing like it's a thrill of the hunt, so much that Varney wants to bring him back, unlike the rest of Dracula's court. Carmilla and Godbrand were concerned about leaving enough humans alive to feed while Dracula and Isaac were fine with killing them all. He knew something was off about that limey rat, but wasn't sure what exactly, and that made him even angrier.

everybody focuses on *"It nourishes me."* while completely unseeing the fact that Ratco says he was given to earth and he will take everything. 🙄isn't that what "Varney" says later on too? we should really focus on their talk. there's not only foreshadowing but also parallels. the rings were forged by vampire magic blacksmiths. one of which we saw earlier when Hector bribed with wine and threatened with Carmila. the rings could potentially be made for others. and as we learn later on, this one is connected to St. Germin. thanks for reaction. wish you well.

So for people who still might be confused about the whole ring situation: The ring on the creature being sown together is not the same specific ring that any of the vampire sisters wore to bind Hector, but it is another one that was created for the purposes of binding the creature to the will of saint Germain.

Hector was loyal to all of them not just Lenore. Lenore gave her sisters the rings to make Hector bound to all of them not just her. He only saved Lenore because he likes her. If he didn't she would 100% be dead because the ring only stops him from directly killing or harming all of them. But letting Isaac kill her wouldn't have done anything to him. And he cut off his finger making the ring useless before Isaac left. So if that was an issue then he would have just had Isaac kill her on his way over to Carmilla
