He may not have been coherently evil but he was corrupt. A famous quote describes" Power corrupts but Absolute Power corrupts absolutely". Light became corrupted by that power. I also thought the scene at the end with L standing over a lifeless Kira was meant to represent L winning the battle. Similarly Light was standing over L when he died.

Well I can't thank you enough for suggesting that ^^ I just finished watching it, and it gives me a bit more to be confused about but for the most part clears a lot up for me. If it is indeed true that is. Makes me feel like there's potential for a sequel, though I honestly hope not since I doubt it would hold up, but just having some idea of what happened to Light where as I had none before it much better. Thank you, I really appreciate it.

You're right. Even in about the 10th book, at the point where Light had recruited Mikami, Light still got angry at Mikami for punishing former criminals. Light was still persueing a noble goal, but he just had a pretty extreme way of doing it.

Thats a great way to see it. I just find what happened to the both of them utterly sad, Light especially because it says in the death note he will go to "nothingness" whatever that means. I hope its not true. I started out really loving Light and what he was doing, and how brilliant he was, but then as time went on he started to be corrupted in my opinion and lose sight of what his original goal was. It became more about him becoming god then about the world being a better place. Sad either way

I agree with you, when Light first started his heart was in the right place. He was trying to make the world a better place. His method was crazy but his hearth was in the right place. But I do think that along the way, after L died he become more evil. he began to kill people that were close him and he didn't remember that is dad died, or he didn't care that his dad died. So i think Light became evil but nether the less his goal was great and we should all admire that

Light wasn't evil he just wanted to make a new world by killing all the criminals, but he didn't know that that was wrong, so that made him just as evil as all the criminals, he wasn't killing for the sake of killing he was killing to make the world better, by killing criminals, and to protect his secret identity and his life. But at the end he was a little crazy, thanks to all the misfortune that the deathnote has brought to him.

if you say human life was overrated then you didnt understand what this anime was saying. if human life didnt matter then light wouldnt have died and noone would have cared...also, kira's life was not meaningless...he thought of human lives as meaningless things that you can toss around and noone would care, but his death was showing that he was wrong, and even hardened criminals may still have some meaning to their life. it seems as though you understood of the symbolism that the show used!!!

First i don't really think he killed his father, he sent his father to his doom but I don't think he really killed him. It is a cold thing to do even if you had good intentions but I have all ways thought that if one person can save other people by dying they should die. Its cold, I know but I think if it better the world then you should give up your life to save something greater. But I do think Lights dad should have killed Mello, he didn't and thats why he died.

yo creo que ligth yagami(kira) hacia lo correcto, hoy en dia la justicia esta muy mal y por eso si pudiera haria lo mismo que él. Tambien me gusta L pero kira es el amo y yo creo que el final fue muy malo hubiera sido mejor que kira hubiese conseguido fojat un nuevo mundo.
